Last Wednesday, Wendell Jordan Jr., our lead SEO specialist, spoke at the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership (BAHEP) Small Business Committee meeting.
The conversation focused on SEO, AI visibility, and where small businesses should focus their energy as the way people search continues to change.
A few key takeaways from the discussion:
• Long-form content still matters. Blogging and helpful website content take time, but they are still strong drivers of long-term visibility.
• Content should be created for people first. Search engines are getting better at identifying which websites actually match what users are looking for.
• The customer journey has changed. People are using Google, AI tools, social media, maps, reviews, and referrals before they ever contact a business.
• Consistency across the web matters. Your website, Google Business Profile, listings, and social channels should all reinforce the same message.
• Rankings are not the whole SEO picture anymore. Keyword position still matters, but visibility, trust, conversions, and AI presence matter too.
