To Double C,
Thank you for seeing my value early, always thinking bigger, and creating a safe space for me to grow and learn. Thank you for welcoming me into baseball with open arms and valuing my opinion, even when my ideas seemed over the top. No words could fully explain the gratitude I have for the opportunity you gave me. This journey has been nothing short of life changing. Thank you for your patience, your honesty, and never being afraid of the hard conversations. Your mentorship played a huge role in shaping the person I am today.
To my players/my brothers,
Thank you for growing with me. More than anything, thank you for giving me grace. Thank you for accepting me, protecting me, and trusting me with something you all have dedicated your lives to. You taught me so much beyond the game itself. Thank you for reminding me to laugh through the stressful moments, to smile through the long nights, and to keep showing up even when I wanted to give up. At the end of the day, we were just grateful to go through this game together.
To the program,
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the legacy. From every season motto to every small branding detail, being able to help tell the story of Southern University Baseball has meant everything to me. I would love to say this journey was easy, but it wasn’t. And honestly, that is what makes it so hard to leave behind. The sleepless nights, the stress, the deadlines, the tears, the many moments where I wanted to quit… I would go through all of it again in a heartbeat. Most people will never fully understand the role I played or why I chose to keep showing up every day. But this program helped me find my purpose.
To the program that showed me who I was meant to be, thank you.
