If your business runs on referrals, you don't have a business. You have a lottery ticket.
I've talked to owners doing $800K a year who missed payroll in January. Referrals dried up. Nobody was thinking about them that month.

I'm not saying referrals are bad. They're great. But you can't scale what you can't control.
