This year taught me a leadership lesson I didn’t see coming:
Sometimes what we call “high performance” is just trauma wearing a blazer.
The urgency.
The need for control.
The tendency to over-function in collaboration.
Becoming the engine instead of the architect.
It all looks productive —
until you realize your nervous system is the one running the company, not your conscious leadership.
Over the past 90 days, I’ve been rebuilding from a different place:
Honoring pace
Designing systems that don’t burn people out
Partnering without absorbing
Leading without overriding others’ process
You won’t find this in your KPIs —
but the impact speaks for itself.
I wrote about this transition for leaders ready to grow sustainably, human-first.
