After 22+ years in graphic design, I’ve discovered something important:
Most organizations do not actually have a “design problem.”
They have a:
“Why do I have to explain this AGAIN?” problem.
You know the cycle.
Find a designer.
Explain the company.
Explain the audience.
Explain the project.
Explain revisions.
Finally, finish the project.
Need another project six months later.
Repeat the entire process with a different person.
At some point, the onboarding process becomes its own full-time job.
So I wrote an article about why long-term design relationships work better for a lot of B2B companies than random freelancers, giant agencies, or design subscription queues.
Because eventually:
The relationship becomes the product.
Also, because nobody should have to explain their company history 14 times before a trade show.
