Speeches garner support through press conferences, executive addresses, virtual summits and community events…
And any number of ways your organization can grab a mic.
Words of caution:
⚠️ Not every leader is a speaker.
⚠️ Not every speaker is a speech writer.
⚠️ And not every speech writer can train leaders to speak.
… see where I’m going here?
Yet, very often, organizations task the first Comms person they see with writing the ED’s latest address.
And EDs who aren’t great orators very often step in front of the mic… without training.
… or even worse, they task the speaker training to their in-house Comms director… who happens to specialize in media relations (that’s not the same).
Speeches are too important to task to the first warm body or biggest ego in the room.
HIRE THE RIGHT SPECIALISTS.

Your Comms professional CANNOT do it all. There are at least 25 specialties in the field 😰. The juggle is real.
