My experience at the National Medical Association Conference here in Puerto Rico has been incredible!
I came here representing , supporting Dr. J and the brands I help manage, while also showing up as a professional with my own voice, perspective, and purpose.
Yes, there were great sessions, meaningful conversations, new connections, and plenty of moments to enjoy beautiful Puerto Rico….But what stood out most was being surrounded by so many brilliant Black physicians who are passionate about leadership, advocacy, health equity, education, and making sure our communities have access to the resources they need to thrive.
And somewhere in the middle of all that networking, I was reminded that I have a role in this work, too!
I may not wear a white coat, but communication matters in healthcare. How we educate communities, tell stories, build trust, position leaders, and make critical information accessible matters.
For me, this work is personal, but it is also professional. As a brand strategist who has worked alongside physicians and healthcare organizations for more than a decade, I understand that good communication can be a bridge between healthcare professionals and the communities they serve.
I’m leaving Puerto Rico inspired, connected, and even more intentional about how I use what I do to support those doing the work.
What an experience and reminder that purpose has a way of putting you in the right rooms.
