HTFSDS South Georgia Showdown are non-points races, reducing anxiety about potential weather impacts.
If the temperature is over 40, theyβre going to get sporty.

The South Georgia Showdown is ON as planned and will kick off at Needmore Speedway with practice on Thursday followed by $10,000-to-win Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series races Friday and Saturday. Both nights will also feature the Crate Racin' USA Winter Shootout Series plus Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, and Crown Vics. π
We understand there are concerns regarding cooler temperatures for Saturday, and we want to be transparent about how we approach cold-weather conditions. As a guideline, our minimum temperature threshold for racing is 40 degrees. If we feel there is a long enough window at 40 degrees or above to safely and properly complete the program, we will race.
At this time, with a favorable forecast for Friday, we are moving forward with the event as scheduled and will continue to closely monitor temperature and weather trends for Saturday. Saturday's planned start times have been shifted into the daytime with hot laps starting at 1 pm and racing starting at 2. Any additional changes to the Saturday event will be communicated as soon as possible.
We are also monitoring forecasts for Monday and Tuesday at Swainsboro Raceway. As of now, the Swainsboro portion of the South Georgia Showdown remains on as scheduled. Any updates will be announced promptly.

Due to the weather concerns facing the event, the South Georgia Showdown will be contested as a non-points event for the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series. Instead of being points races, a paid provisional starting spot will be added to the first points race of the season and will be awarded to the HTF Series Loyalty Program driver with the best finishing position in any of the completed South Georgia Showdown races who does not qualify for the feature lineup. The HTF Series championship chase will now officially begin Sunday, March 22, at Talladega Short Trackβs $12,000-to-win Bama Bash.
We appreciate everyoneβs patience and understanding as we navigate winter racing conditions. Weβll continue to provide updates as needed. ππ
