Your brain just picked the truck with the smaller number. That's not an accident, it's pricing psychology at work.

$599/month sounds like a commitment. "Less than $20/day" sounds like nothing. Except do the math: $20 x 30 days = $600. The "cheaper" option actually costs more.

This is called reframing, and dealerships (along with gyms, subscriptions, and SaaS companies) use it constantly because our brains process small daily numbers as less threatening than big monthly ones, even when the math says otherwise.

Here's your move this week: next time you're pricing an offer, test breaking it down two ways and see which one your customers respond to. Just make sure you're not accidentally talking yourself out of the better deal.

Which price would you have picked first, the $599 or the $20/day?

Your brain doesn't choose. It defaults. 🧠

That's the power of the Default Effect: whatever's pre-selected feels like the "normal" choice, and unchecking it feels like extra work most people just skip.

Here's how a business owner could use this: if you sell a service with add-ons (think a car wash with "tire shine" or a hair salon with a "deep condition treatment"), don't make it an opt-in checkbox buried in your booking form. Pre-check it. Frame it as included by default, with a clear price bump ("+$5"), and let the customer opt out if they really don't want it.

You're not tricking anyone. You're just working with how decisions actually get made instead of against it.

What's one add-on in your business that's currently opt-in but should be opted-in by default?

The framing effect!

Same hash brown. Same fat content. Completely different reaction.

That's framing, and your brain falls for it every single time. "1% Fat" sounds like a warning label. "99% Fat Free" sounds like a win, even though they're mathematically identical.

How you frame your price, your ingredients, your results all changes how "good" they feel before anyone reads the fine print.

Look at your own offer this week. Are you leading with the number that sounds like a limitation, or the one that sounds like a win?

Wait, do people even use pennies anymore? Doesn't matter, because that one cent still runs your brain. It's called the left-digit effect: our brains anchor to the first number we read, so "$9" feels way cheaper than "$10," even though the real difference is a single penny.

Retailers have used this for decades, but it works just as well for small business owners. Say you sell a service package for $100. Try pricing it at $97 instead. The perceived value gap feels bigger than $3, even though your margin barely moves.

Same psychology, smaller shelf. Test it on your next offer and watch what happens to conversions.

Where in your pricing could you shave off that last dollar and see a difference?

Turn Music On.

Same w**e. Same bottle. Different reaction.

The only thing that changed was the music. French accordion music comes on, and suddenly the w**e feels fancier and better.

This is called the priming effect. It's not just a w**e thing. It's a marketing thing too.

People don't just judge your product. They judge the vibe around it, your captions, your visuals, your energy.

If your content isn't giving people a reason to say yes before they even see the price, you're leaving it up to chance.

What's missing from your brand's vibe right now?

15/09/2026

Bundles feel like a steal, even when you didn't need everything in them. That's not an accident, it's the bundling effect, and your brain falls for it every time.

Movie theaters nail it: popcorn + drink + candy for $18 vs. $28 separately. Same stuff, different perception of value.

Do this with your own offers. Show the "separate" price next to the "bundle" price and watch the decision get easy.

What could you bundle this week?

10/09/2026

Bite me.

Your brain is basically a pattern-matching machine. Show it the same thing 1,000 times and it scrolls right past. Show it something unexpected? It stops.

This is why "normal" content dies in the feed and pattern interrupts win. Same tortilla, same kitchen, same woman... but one gets ignored and one gets watched twice.

Your content needs a bite-in-the-middle moment. What's the "expected" thing your audience is used to seeing from you, and how could you flip it this week?

08/09/2026

Your brain isn’t broken, it’s just predictable. 🧠

This is called the “foot in the door” technique, and marketers (yes, even us) use it constantly. Lower the entry cost, get the yes, THEN introduce the real commitment.

$39.99 due today feels like a decision.
$1 due today feels like a no-brainer.

Same membership. Same value. Completely different gut reaction.

The lesson for your business: if your offer feels like a wall, find the door.

What’s the smallest possible “yes” you could ask for first?

03/09/2026

Your brain sees "dentist recommended" and instantly trusts it more. Same toothpaste. Same tube. Same ingredients. The only difference is a sign.

This is authority bias in action, and it's one of the oldest tricks in marketing. We trust things more when they look official, even when nothing about the product actually changed.

The lesson for your own business?

You don't need a fake sign. You need real credibility, shown clearly, so people trust you without the gimmick.
