So here's what a real week of AEO work looks like for our active clients:

If you're considering hiring an SEO or AEO agency β€” or if you already have one β€” these are the 5 questions every qualified agency should be able to answer immediately:

1. "Can you show me case studies with specific numbers from the last 6 months?"
(Vague results = vague strategy. Walk away.)

2. "How do you measure AI search visibility β€” not just Google rankings?"
(If they don't have an answer to this, they're behind the curve.)

3. "What's your process for the first 30 days?"

I searched for "best [service] in [city]" across three platforms: ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google.

The results were not what I expected.

Google showed the usual local pack β€” map results, reviews, rankings.

ChatGPT gave a specific recommendation with a paragraph explaining why β€” citing reviews, the business's website content, and their local reputation.

Perplexity gave a ranked list with citations pulled directly from directory listings and a local news mention.

Three platforms. Three different trust signals. Three different winners.

If you want AI to recommend your business, you need to understand the three types of content it trusts most.

Type 1: ANSWER CONTENT
Content that directly answers a question your customer would ask.
Example: "What's the difference between an LLC and a sole proprietorship?" (for accountants) or "How long does a dental implant take?" (for dentists)

Type 2: AUTHORITY CONTENT
Content that proves expertise through specifics β€” data, case studies, process explanations.

Type 3: LOCATION + SERVICE CONTENT
Content that explicitly connects your service to your geography.

I do these website reviews every time a new client comes on board.

And every single time, I find the same categories of problems.

Here's what I found in the first 15 minutes of this particular audit:

Fix 1: The homepage headline described what the business WAS β€” not what it does FOR customers. Rewrote it to lead with the outcome, not the identity.

Fix 2: No FAQ section anywhere on the site. Added a 7-question FAQ to the homepage and services page with schema markup.

Fix 3: Page load speed was 5.8 seconds on mobile. Compressed images and removed three unused scripts. Down to 2.1 seconds.

Fix 4: "About" page had no location keywords. Rewrote the first two paragraphs to naturally include the city and region they serve.

Total time to implement: 4 hours.

These are not exotic changes. They're the fundamentals that most websites skip.
