🎉 Big news for HHA residents! The Huntsville Housing Authority has been awarded a $3 million HUD Jobs Plus Grant to expand employment services, job training, career development, and financial empowerment resources for residents of Northwoods and L.R. Patton.
The Huntsville Housing Authority (HHA) is proud to announce that it has been awarded $3 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Jobs Plus Program. The funding will support residents of the Northwoods and L.R. Patton communities by expanding access to employment services, job training, career development, and other resources designed to increase economic opportunity and self-sufficiency.
The Jobs Plus Program is designed to help public housing residents increase their earnings and advance toward long-term financial independence. Through partnerships with local employers, workforce development organizations, educational institutions, and community partners, HHA will work to connect residents with training and career opportunities that align with Huntsville’s growing economy.
“This $3 million investment is about creating opportunities for our residents and making sure they are prepared to take advantage of the tremendous economic growth happening throughout Huntsville,” said Antonio L. McGinnis, Executive Director/CEO of the Huntsville Housing Authority. “I am excited to have an opportunity for our residents to receive the training, resources, and support they need to compete for jobs right here in our city. As Huntsville continues to grow, we want to make sure our residents are growing with it.”
The Jobs Plus initiative will focus on Northwoods and L.R. Patton, providing residents with greater access to employment and training services, financial empowerment resources, career coaching, and connections to employers. HHA will also work with community partners to address barriers that can make it difficult for residents to obtain and maintain employment.
“This grant is more than an investment in housing; it is an investment in people,” McGinnis added. “Our goal is to create pathways that allow residents to increase their income, build stronger futures for their families, and become active participants in Huntsville’s continued economic success.”
The Huntsville Housing Authority looks forward to working with HUD, residents, employers, educational institutions, workforce development agencies, and community partners to successfully implement the Jobs Plus Program and create lasting opportunities for the families it serves.
