The Z.A.P.P. Grand Reveal of Paths to Discovery and Zippity Zoo Day exceeded every expectation.
Before the gates even opened, families were already lined up outside the Jackson Zoo, with guests arriving as early as 9:50 a.m. ready to experience the transformed entrance, celebrate the reopening of the splash pad, and enjoy a day of family fun.
Thanks to support from the Community Foundation for Mississippi, ZAPP brought together local artists, community members, volunteers, and Zoo supporters to create a welcoming and interactive space that reflects the creativity, culture, and pride of our community. From vibrant murals and educational art installations to family games, updated gathering spaces, and colorful pathways, visitors were able to experience a completely new first impression of the Jackson Zoo.
Throughout the day, children raced between giant games, families explored the animal exhibits, visitors stopped to admire the artwork, and countless guests cooled off in the splash pad, which reopened for the first time in several years. The excitement, laughter, and energy throughout the Zoo demonstrated what is possible when a community comes together around a shared vision.
Thank you to the artists, volunteers, community partners, Zoo staff, media partners, elected officials, supporters, and families who helped make this day possible. The Grand Reveal was more than the unveiling of a space. It was a celebration of community investment, collaboration, and the future of the Jackson Zoo.
