Starting September 3, Police, Fire and EMS cook head to head four Thursday nights at St. Susan Center. Every ticket goes toward a new walk-in freezer, so they can store more food and feed more people.

Chautauqua County, we built the website for Battle of the Badges: The Ladle Showdown, and this thing is going to be a scene.

Police, Fire, and EMS. Nine teams. Four Thursday nights in September. They cook, you eat, you vote. Somebody walks out of there with bragging rights until next year and somebody has to hear about it every single shift.

All of it raises money for a walk-in freezer at St Susan Center. More storage means more meals for the people who come through their doors every day.

Everything runs through the site. Grab tickets for any night, sign your team up, volunteer, or sponsor. No forms to print, no emails to chase.

$20 a night. Four soups. One vote. Pick a badge and back it loud!

Before St Susan Center had a name, there was a young woman named Susan Tornebene, hundreds of miles from home.

A car accident brought her to WCA Hospital in Jamestown. She was a stranger here, and for the days she held on, the clergy of local churches and the hospital staff surrounded her and her family like they had known them their whole lives.

Susan did not survive.

Her family went home carrying something they had not expected to find in a town they had never been to. They had been shown what a community does for someone who has nothing to offer it.

So they gave the gift that opened Jamestown's soup kitchen in her memory.

The doors opened February 1, 1984.

Forty two years later, they still open at 11.

Anyone can walk in. No cost, no ID, no application, no proof of need. Nobody is turned away, ever.

In January the building is a warming center. In July it is a cooling center. Either way it is somewhere to sit that is not a sidewalk.

The mission has never changed since day one. Meals, fellowship, dignity and respect to all who come through our doors.

Meals is only the first word on that list.

For some people, lunch at St. Susan's is the only hot meal they will have that day. For others it is a familiar face, someone who knows their name, and a table where nobody asks what happened.

That is the part you cannot put on a menu, and it is the part the people there work hardest to protect.

Cherie Rowland has been Executive Director since 2021. A Jamestown native who spent 25 years in the business world first, she came in wanting the place to feel like more than a meal line.

Somewhere you could get a cup of coffee, sit down, and actually talk to somebody.

That is what she helped build.

Around her is a board that has been showing up for a long time, some of them for over a decade, and a volunteer crew that runs food pickups, works the line, and knows the regulars by name.

A small staff, a working board, and a lot of people who keep coming back.

The one thing a place like this cannot afford is to be hard to find.

Somebody hungry at 10:45 in the morning is not browsing. They are searching for a free meal near them, and they tap the first thing that answers.

That is where Moovlin came in. Making sure St. Susan's shows up when it matters, and building them a website that says the same thing the volunteers say at the door.

They are not trying to become something else. They are trying to keep that door open, one more day, for one more person who needs it.

You can volunteer a shift. You can donate food. You can give at stsusancenter.org, or drop your change in a Cents for St. Susan's canister.

Or you can just remember that on the worst day of somebody's life, there is a place on Water Street where nobody asks questions.

Before ShinePro’s Mobile Detailing ever had a name, it began with Anthony watching his stepfather care for his vehicles.

He noticed the time he took, the pride he had in his cars, and the attention he gave to every small detail. Whenever Anthony had the chance, he would help wash them, follow him to work, and take in everything he was doing.

What may have looked like an ordinary car wash to someone else became the beginning of something much bigger.

It taught Anthony that caring for a vehicle was not simply about soap, water, or making the paint shine. It was about respect. It was about pride. It was about stepping back when the work was finished and knowing you gave it everything you had.

That feeling stayed with him.

Over the next eight years, Anthony continued detailing and spent time working around different shops, learning new products, techniques, and ways to improve his craft. Every vehicle taught him something. Every finished job made him better. But deep down, he knew he wanted to build a name and reputation of his own.

The idea for ShinePro’s became real after Anthony detailed his cousin Victor’s Mustang.

Victor had always cared about keeping his vehicles clean, but seeing the transformation changed the way he looked at professional detailing. He saw how much skill, time, and effort went into the process. More importantly, he felt the pride that comes with driving a vehicle that looks and feels new again.

That one detail started a conversation between two cousins.

They realized they shared the same appreciation for the work, the same excitement over the finished result, and the same desire to create something of their own.

So they took a chance on themselves.

Three years ago, they turned that shared passion into ShinePro’s Mobile Detailing, giving both of them the opportunity to do work they genuinely enjoy while serving their community.

They chose mobile detailing because they wanted to bring professional vehicle care directly to their customers. But convenience was never meant to come at the expense of quality.

For Anthony and Victor, a detail is not about showing up, quickly washing a car, taking someone’s money, and leaving.

It is about effort.

It is about taking pride in the work, paying attention to the areas others may overlook, and making sure the customer is just as proud of the finished vehicle as they are.

When asked about their most memorable vehicle, they could not choose only one.

To them, nearly every vehicle is memorable
because every transformation represents another customer who trusted them and another opportunity to prove what ShinePro’s is capable of.

They see ShinePro’s becoming a trusted name in mobile detailing, known for honest communication, dependable service, and results that speak for themselves.

They are building it vehicle by vehicle, customer by customer, and detail by detail.

New tap to review card made for our friend’s at ShineProsdetailiing716 🚗

Customers just tap their phone and they’re right at the Google review page, no app needed, no searching for the business.

Reviews are huge for small businesses like this, they build trust and help new customers find you, but most people skip leaving one just because it’s a hassle.

This makes it easy, so more of those happy customers actually follow through!

Jimmy Campbell of Jimmys Site & Septic has been doing incredible work in this community for 4 years and what he's built here deserves to be recognized.
