Forget the old rule that autumn wardrobes must resign themselves to safe, somber earth tones.

This season, style takes a sharp turn toward unapologetic, high-voltage drama. Electric hues are usurping classic neutrals: vivid citrus, punchy hot pink, and fiery orange, grounded by sharp hits of navy, charcoal, and warm cream. Menswear leans into the same energy, with rich jewel tones, deep neutrals, and supple textures replacing anything too safe.

As temperatures dip, strategic layering takes center stage, touchable knits, structured outerwear, and just enough sparkle for evening. No outfit is complete without a conversation-starting accessory to pull it all together.

Autumn style is about stepping into your own spotlight, with confidence and panache.

Before the anchor desk, there were 27 rejections in ten days.

Hoda Kotb's career almost ended before it began. Newsroom after newsroom told her she wasn't ready, until a news director in Greenville, Mississippi, took a chance on her tape. That single yes led to Dateline NBC and, eventually, the anchor chair at Today, a role she held from 2018 to 2025.

Now 61, a mother to daughters Haley Joy and Hope Catherine, Kotb has entered a new chapter. Her latest project, Joy 101, is a wellness app built around reflection, mindfulness, and the belief that it's never too late to put down what she calls your "heavy backpack" and find what makes you happy.

In Franklin, actor and musician Deacon Phillippe is stepping into a new role: first-time executive producer.

Phillippe stars in Brother Save Us, an indie dystopian drama about a young man on a Midwest farm who befriends an AI farmworker while caring for his ailing father, all while navigating a strained relationship with his older brother. The film, shot in part on director Jesse Behrenwald's family farm, premieres this month at the Nashville Film Festival, the city Phillippe has called home since he was 15.

Phillippe spent months working alongside real farmers to prepare for the role. Of one evening in the field, watching the sunset with fireflies over the crop, he says simply: "It was magical."

Fashion Month doesn't always begin at the destination.

Every September, the fashion world sets its sights on New York, London, Milan, and Paris. In Palm Beach, the season opened somewhere else entirely: aboard a Gulfstream IV, where the aisle became a runway and champagne circulated between conversations about the collections soon to debut abroad.

Silk caftans moved through the cabin, evoking afternoons in Capri and evenings along the Côte d'Azur. Statement jewelry from A'List Jewelry, including an emerald-and-diamond alligator cuff, provided the finishing touch.

The gathering, hosted by Hera Flight, also marked a milestone of its own: the addition of a Gulfstream V to its fleet, extending the company's bespoke service to fashion capitals around the world.

"Luxury today means consistency, trust, and the kind of seamlessness that feels effortless," says owner Jonathan Hollar — though the ease, he's quick to note, takes real effort behind the scenes.

Style extends beyond the wardrobe and into the walls.

For thirteen years, Month of Modern in Boulder, Colorado has explored the same idea from every angle: that good design is never just a look. This year's theme, "Human Scale: Modern Design, Made Personal," considers architecture, interiors, and craftsmanship as extensions of how people actually live.

"Design is ultimately about people," says Stephanie Bingham, Month of Modern's Director. ""The spaces we create should reflect the lives of the people who experience them."

In Boulder, style extends beyond the wardrobe and into the walls.

For thirteen years, Month of Modern has explored the same idea from every angle: that good design is never just a look. This year's theme, "Human Scale: Modern Design, Made Personal," considers architecture, interiors, and craftsmanship as extensions of how people actually live.

"Design is ultimately about people," says Stephanie Bingham, Month of Modern's Director. "The spaces we create should reflect the lives of the people who experience them."

A full month of conversation, craftsmanship, and community is proof that style is as much about the rooms we build as the clothes we wear.

Different cities, different traditions, the same instinct to gather for Labor Day.

In Marietta, Georgia, it means an open-air gallery filling the historic square for the 40th year running. In Reno, Nevada, it brings dancers honoring generations of heritage at Numaga Indian Days. In Colorado Springs, Colorado, hot air balloons lift into the sky for the 50th Labor Day Liftoff.
