They built houses like works of art in 1903. So why are we still ripping out the details that make them special?

**WHY I PICKED THIS ONE:**
This 1903 Jacobean-style Roanoke estate is an absolute feast for old-house lovers. I'm especially taken with the original chestnut woodwork, elaborate architectural details and that gorgeous curved sunroom. This is the kind of house I could spend hours exploring.

There’s a lot here I wouldn’t mess with.

WHY I PICKED THIS ONE:
Coleman Highlands already has my attention, but this house keeps giving you old-house details room after room. The coffered ceiling, fireplace, leaded-glass windows, woodwork and beautiful hardwood floors are exactly the stuff I want an older house to hang onto.
