DEM HEAVY HITTER:Gwen Walz, wife of Minnesota governor and Democratic vice presidential hopeful Tim Walz, indicated offering tampons in school bathrooms would help students learn to read during an appearance on Katie Couric's podcast Sunday.

Couric asked Walz about her husband being called "Tampon Tim," a nickname coined by conservatives after he signed a bill in his state that would put free menstrual products in all school restrooms, including boys' rooms.

"If kids are hungry in school, what that does to brain and learning, you're not going to learn to read," Walz said. "So if you're talking about learning to read and closing gaps then you better take away the barriers for that. If that's tampons, then that's tampons, right?"

Turns out my FB account is restricted: that's their idea of customer service. My crime it seems -- they don't communicate very well about their heavy handed bullying so I have to fill in the blanks with some guesswork-- is posting scenic West Virginia pictures to groups that like mountain state images . And groups that I am a member of. No wonder I long for the old days: I spent about 30 seconds on FB daily and hours blogging on the much richer international Opera Community. So if you haven't seen me around the usual places doing the usual things, well that's why.

Facebook messing with you, what with the election come upon us? I am getting any commenting and most responses cancelled outside of my home page. Claim: I am violating community standards by sharing too much with West Virginia heritage and some political groups. Wonder if anyone else who comments and shares a lot is having the same issue.

The Battle of the Billionaires: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates recently provided around $50 million to a nonprofit backing Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, according to The New York Times. Harris has 81 billionaires backing her, according to a Forbes analysis, including former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, while Trump has the support of 50 billionaires, including the world’s wealthiest person Elon Musk, who has recently joined Trump on the campaign trail. wants to abolish the electoral college

threatened to pack the Supreme Court

actually rioted in insurrection, but charged protesters in the capital

provided bail and legal defense funds to rioters engaged in insurrection

bypassed congress to tell the American people what kind of products they can buy

The battle for control of the Senate: Tim Sheehy, the GOP candidate trying to unseat U.S. Senator Jon Tester in a tight Montana race, is getting plenty of help from billionaire backers. In all, 12 billionaires have given more than $1 million apiece to groups backing Sheehy or opposing Tester since 2023, including the Walton family, Ken Griffin and Blackstone cofounder Stephen Schwarzman and his wife Christine. Meanwhile, the super PAC that has spent the most in support of Tester’s candidacy is entirely funded by Majority Forward, a “dark money” group—meaning that because of its tax classification, it has more restrictions on its spending but also does not have to disclose its donors. I notice on my FB feed someone I went to school with 1-12, who I went to church with her husband Saturdays, with whom I share 75 friends in common. Asked to be her friend and FB told me I shouldn't contact people I don't know. Minutes later I shared a photo of an elaborate tree stand --with a beaver chewing down the tree --to the No 1 Summers county news group, and got a SPAM penalty called on me Geeeeeeez Have aliens landed in Menlo Park, California?
