Vagabonds Antiques and Curiosities
The Heart Behind the Prize
A cake pan.
Not exactly the thing most people expect to get emotional over.
But sometimes that's all it takes.
When I asked what keeps her going on the days it would be easier
to quit, she didn't talk about sales.
She didn't talk about business.
She talked about the customers who walk into Vagabonds Antiques and Curiosities and suddenly find a piece of their past.
Sometimes it's a smile.
Sometimes it's a laugh.
Sometimes it's a squeal when they spot something they haven't seen in years.
And sometimes it's tears.
Because that old toy, kitchen gadget, holiday decoration, or cake pan isn't really about the item itself.
It's about a memory.
A parent.
A grandparent.
A birthday.
A moment they thought they'd forgotten.
And for a few minutes, they're there again.
That tells you a lot about the heart behind Vagabonds Antiques and Curiosities.
Because while most people see antiques, she sees stories.
Stories people carry with them.
Stories waiting to be remembered.
When we talked about community, she said something that stood out to me.
While Vagabonds has a healthy tourist draw, it's the locals she talks about first.
The people who stop in to chat.
The people who want to hear her story and share their own.
Because for her, that's where the real connection begins.
She calls it:
"The emotional door."
And honestly, that may be the perfect way to describe her shop.
A place where people walk in looking at things...
And leave thinking about people.
When I asked what the 4th of July means to her, her answer was simple.
"Our independence is so important and hard-fought."
A reminder that some things are worth preserving.
Of course, if you're lucky enough, she might even take you to the famous basement.
The one packed with inventory and hidden treasures that most visitors never get to see.
Though after this, it may not be quite so secret anymore.
And if you've been thinking about stopping by but keep putting it off?
Her answer was simple:
"You don't have to love antiques to visit an antique store."
Because you never know what you'll find.
Maybe it's something useful.
Maybe it's something weird.
Maybe it's guitar strings.
Or maybe it's a memory you haven't thought about in years.

This is why she chose to be part of the giveaway.
Because some things are worth sharing.
And some memories deserve another chance to be found.
