AI IS HARMFUL BUT SEEMS UNSTOPPABLE: Why I'm not using AI is multifold. As a marketer and website designer, I know that in some ways Google search engine has started downgrading AI rich websites. Google updated their algorithm September 2023. An article by CMSWire titled "State of SEO Google Search Algorithm Updates" said Google would start downgrading websites that utilized AI too much for their content. Google wanted original material, articles, analysis, research and reviews. This is why my largest website is coming up in the top 5 on search engines. I don't think that I'm an award-winning author but my original articles win.

Do I think that we can stop AI? No, I don't because people like convenient things, they like daily deliveries, easily produced and consumed products, therefore I feel they won't be able to stop using AI. But what can AI hurt? Only some of us know how detrimental AI is to the water systems. Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) article "Data centers and water consumption" from June 2025 said that AI Data Centers consume up to 5 million gallons of drinking water per day. That much water usage is eventually going to catch up with us.

Do I have any solutions to this problem? Not really, other than if you get a chance consider paying an artist to draw your image, such as a portrait or a caricature. For example here's a portrait a street artist did of me 30 years ago. 😂 I looked very different.

For my part I will continue with my original content and unique photos. Also I'll ask if there are any local artists that would like to work at one of our pride festivals this year?

VIDEO SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS & WHY I'M ON YOUTUBE: I've always called Facebook the Wild West. It's been my experience that individuals and organizations will steal your photos, your videos, and ideas on Facebook so put your name on everything. What I'm saying right now is copyrighted. 😂

My business coach told our workshop class to make Facebook reels because they are easy and free to create. I began creating videos on tiktok after I watched my teen niece do it. I have TikTok accounts for my personal page. For comparison, if Facebook is the Wild West then I feel TikTok is Jurassic Park. They are reproducing at a crazy rate, there's no monitoring, or censorship. For a neuro spicy person like me, TikTok was too much, and too time consuming. I don't have time to monitor people's comments and to keep any of my followers safe, it's hard enough on my pages.

I have created Facebook reels, and I'm developing a YouTube channel. As a social media manager, content creator and website owner promoting LGBTQ Friendly Businesses I've found the easiest videos to embed into my website are YouTube. It is one of the oldest social media platforms and I feel it has a lot of sustainability. You do not need to be logged in to see a video unless it is made for adults only. Videos from other platforms can have links that go bad, giving you a 404 Error if the video creator changes anything.

Hot tip to stay out of trouble with copyright ... remember when you create a video for a new platform if you are using copyrighted music mute your video sound then use the music from that platform. This may keep you out of trouble with copyright infringement. Believe me, I've talked to Sony music way too many times. 😂

PRESCHOOLER AND FATHER RELEASED FROM DETENTION CENTER: Five year old Liam Ramos and his father are back in Minnesota. Many of us have been following this story of the father and pre-schooler detained by ICE in Minnesota and flown to a Texas family immigration detention center within hours of being detained.

Any parent, caregiver, teacher, anyone that cares about children has watched this heart -wrenching story. Along with people that feel immigration should be handled differently. So many people feel this way that 11.8k donated to a GoFundMe in an effort to free Liam and his father. The GoFundMe "Help bring 5yr old Liam home" is currently at $446,535 with the original goal being $50,000.

The best story I found was written by Grace Eliza Goodwin writer the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC. The story titled "Boy, 5, and father detained by ICE return to Minnesota after release."

"The detainment of the pair sparked protests outside the detention facility where they were being held, and led to a national outcry. In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said: "ICE did NOT target or arrest a child.""

Their return home came after US District Judge Fred Biery granted an emergency request from the family's lawyer, and ordered their release on Saturday.

The judge condemned their detention as driven by a "perfidious lust for unbridled power".

"The case has its genesis in the ill-conceived and incompetently implemented government pursuit of daily deportation quotas, apparently even if it requires traumatising children," Biery wrote in his ruling.

Biery, an appointee of former US President Bill Clinton, said deportations through the US immigration system should occur in a more orderly and humane policy than currently in place."

"Marc Prokosch, a lawyer representing the family, said the father and son "did everything right" when they came into the country from Ecuador in 2024.

They entered the US at a port of entry to seek asylum, they used the CBP One app, they made an appointment, they presented themselves to Customs and Border Protection, and they have shared all their information with the government, Prokosch said."

Questions I've answered: Where to find Narcan for free? Here is the website for East TN Harm Redux/Hellbender Harm Reduction on Instagram. They appear at pop-up events, and have locations that they distribute to. You should be able to order it on-line as well. Visit their website for more info.

I've seen Narcan at South Press Cafe in the past and I feel certain they have it at the Knoxville Pride Center on Chapman Highway. Their hours of operation are 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Where else have you seen Narcan for free?

I believe in having this on hand. I carry it in my purse everywhere I go and have for the last 4 years. I picked up my first container of Narcan at SoKno Pride in 2021. My second one was at Knox pride festival in 2022. Sometimes I give them out if I have extra. I once read that you won't use Narcan on someone you don't know. It will typically be someone you know.

Oct 28, 2025 I'm seeing more posts on social media with voicing concerning as we get closer to the date that SNAP benefits may not continue due to the current government shutdown. I understand the fear individuals and families have of their supplement nutrition assistance program ceasing as food insecurity is a frightening thing. However, there are organizations in place to help. One in our area is Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee which has 450 food pantries throughout East Tennessee.
