We are excited to announce that The Collective Association has now grown to 17 members!

The organization officially launched in July, with founding NIL collectives at Tennessee, Georgia, Ole Miss, Florida State, USC, Michigan and Penn State. Those founding NIL entities have extended their reach, welcoming 10 new NIL collectives stretching across the college sports landscape.

Kansas State, South Carolina, Kansas, Ohio State, Colorado, Arizona, Missouri, BYU, Arizona State, Louisville.

Today marks two years of 🎉

Two years ago, Hunter Baddour and James Clawson dove head first into the world of Name, Image, and Likeness. Our first deal came at midnight on July 1, 2021 with former Tennessee offensive lineman, Cooper Mays.

Two years later, Spyre Sports has formed The Volunteer Club, the NIL collective for Tennessee where they create sustainable NIL opportunities for student-athletes as well as a community of Vol fans passionate about the success of Tennessee athletics.

This week we are headed to D.C. with four other NIL collectives across the country!

“Ultimately we all want what’s best for student-athletes,” Spyre Sports president Hunter Baddour said. “We look forward to contributing to solution-based conversations regarding NIL and the future of college athletics.”

The five collectives traveling to the nation’s capital are arguably some of the most competitive in the space. This is one of the first times there has been a concerted effort to organize collectives. In recent weeks, there have been murmurs of a trade association forming to lobby on behalf of collectives.

Sports Business Journal named Spyre Sports Group to its "Power Players: NIL" list, which includes leaders and decision makers in the name, image and likeness marketing arena. Hunter Baddour (MBA, ’11) and James Clawson (ProMBA, ’13) created and run the agency, which represents former UT players like Cedric Tillman and Hendon Ho**er.

Did you know Opendorse shares NIL Industry Insights that are updated monthly?

Opendorse shared buyer segment insights through April 2023. 70% of NIL compensation can from donors while 80% of deals came from brands.

What does this tell us? Donors are a crucial part to NIL Collectives across the country making up over half of the compensation. Brands on the other hand make up the overwhelming majority of deals which means they are also important to the NIL landscape. Without brand deals athletes would receive less regional and national recognition.

The NCAA unveiled new programs to be in effect on college campuses. This include support for NIL, Mental Health, Financial Literacy, Nutrition, and Career Preparation.

All of these topics are extremely important in the lives of student-athlete and we are glad to see them being implemented.
