Hey Friends of Regas!

My name is Rob Roy McGregor. I had the honor to do marketing for the Regas Family in their final year leading up to the final day of Regas The Restaurant and The Gathering Place's operation on 12/31/2010. I felt fortunate to experience those amazing final weeks when the world came to have one last Regas experience on Gay Street. It was incredible to see those guests coming to celebrate the significance of the role Regas played in their lives. The good news is we can now go there again, thanks to Knoxville Leadership Foundation.

Recently I watched the video about the Life and Times of Bill Regas. The video was released to celebrate Bill Regas's 87th birthday on January 8th. Everyone can watch this 47 minute video by going to YouTube and searching on: "BILL REGAS". I think you will really enjoy seeing this historic video. I know Bill Regas personally and plan to show him some of the anticipated good wishes that will appear on this FaceBook page. I am sure he will be very pleased to see the comments his friends make.

If you have friends or family members that will be in Knoxville, you may want to let them know that folks can now go to the new reincarnation of The Gathering Place at Regas. It is now called THE GATHERING PLACE CAFE at THE REGAS BUILDING. The Regas Building is now owned by KNOXVILLE LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION ( www.klf.org). You can see more about The Regas Building on the Knoxville Leadership Foundation website: http://theregasbuilding.org/ . By visiting The Regas Building, you can see old photos of the more than 100 year history of the Regas flagship location that was critical to the origins of Grady's Goodtimes, Harry's by Regas, Regas Brothers Cafe, Riverside Tavern by Regas, Westside Tavern, Parkside Tavern, Lakeside Tavern and many others. In addition, Regas served as the foundation for the hospitality careers of thousands and Knoxville's dining destination dating back to 1919.

Cheers Knoxville,
RobRoy
