We recently took delivery of our new Merrow MG-3U machine and our patches are receiving a huge update. Along with that, comes new product photos and taking time to capture the details.

New employee starting today!!! Pretty excited that we are to a point that we absolutely had to find someone to help us out in the shop. It has always just been Kate and me in the shop, every single day, 16-18 hours a day. As we are growing, so is our demand for someone helping with production to increase our daily output.

We got our Tennessee Orange and Pat Summitt Blue bubble envelopes in today for our patches. No guarantees on the color you will receive unless your order is going to Georgia or Alabama…then you are guaranteed getting an orange one.

Sometimes things really do happen for a reason.

We’re burning the midnight oil tonight getting tomorrow’s orders packed, and I decided to “help” Kate by pulling patches and stuffing envelopes. Seems simple enough, right? Well… that’s usually not my area.

I was feeling pretty proud of myself too. I packed a ton of orders and filled an entire tote before Kate printed another batch of labels and packing slips. She started handing me the envelopes, patches, and labels to finish everything up. (Let’s just say she wasn’t exactly impressed with my packing system.)

Then she suddenly stopped.

We noticed we were getting really low on a few patch designs that we knew shouldn’t be running out. After digging into it, we discovered our postage software hadn’t refreshed correctly, so the last batch of shipping labels had printed as duplicates.

So there we were, sorting through duplicate orders and pulling patches back out of envelopes. That’s when we found my mistake.

Apparently I had been matching patch names… but not paying attention to quantities. If someone ordered two or three of the same patch, I was happily putting one in the envelope and calling it good.

As frustrating as it was to unpack a bunch of duplicate orders, those duplicate labels probably saved us from shipping out quite a few incomplete orders.

Needless to say, I’ll be sticking to my usual tasks, and Kate can keep running the operations unless giving me some direct supervision.

Just another late night reminder that even when something goes wrong, it sometimes keeps an even bigger problem from happening.

Soon, you will see a big change to our embroidered patches. We are anxiously awaiting the delivery of our new Merrow MG-3U finishing machine that will give a cleaner finished edge to our patches. Once we get it up and running and have it dialed in, all embroidered patches will come with the classic Merrow finish that has been around since the early 1950s. We chose to move to a Merrowed finish not only for looks, but to also drastically increase our daily output production. We are currently manufacturing 75-100 patches a day, this machine will allow us to increase that to 150-180 patches a day. This gets your orders out to you faster and we will be able to handle our weekly volume without constantly working full weekends.

We haven’t been on here in a bit, due to the overwhelming support you all have given to our company and keeping me up late at night to ensure we are getting these patches out to you quickly. Keep doing it though, we love staying busy.

The new material testing never stops around here.

We got some 304 stainless steel business card blanks in today and immediately started running test grids on the diode laser to dial everything in. We already offer anodized aluminum cards, but these stainless cards are a completely different feel. Heavier, thicker, and a lot more premium in the hand.

One of the coolest parts is the color variation we can pull from the laser depending on power, speed, and frequency settings. Still doing consistency testing for color options before we officially roll them out, but the early results are looking solid.

As always, we’d rather spend the extra time testing and perfecting a product before offering it than rush something out that doesn’t meet our standards.

Once we’ve got the process fully locked in, these will be available on the site for:

• Equipment tags
• Industrial labels
• Permanent signage with optional 3M adhesive backing
• Shop and office signage
