Benefits of cold showers 🥶 I love a hot shower and the hotter the better, but I’ve been hearing a lot of good things your body can benefit from a cold shower.
❄️ Weight loss!!! Yup, you heard me right. When the body’s exposed to extreme cold the brown fat cells become hyperactive and burn away at a much faster rate. A study in 2009 showed that regular exposure to extreme cold sped up brown fat cell activity by 15 times the regular speed.
❄️Improved immunity. Having cold showers does great things for your blood circulation, immunity and overall health. When cold water hits the body it INCREASES CIRCULATION and encourages the heart and arteries to transport blood more efficiently.Furthermore, the deep breathing from the shock of the cold water stimulates lymphatic movement and better oxidation of the blood.
❄️ IMPROVES THE SKIN
One of the best ways to maintain good skin is by giving it regular cold showers. Hot water, over time, can weaken and dry out the skin by washing away its natural oils.Cold water also tightens the skins and shrinks pores. This PREVENTS SKIN DAMAGE AND BREAKOUTS.
Tips for cold water immersion
❄️Make sure to immerse your whole body under the water, especially parts of high blood flow. E.g. Armpits, spine, face, neck, crotch and backside.
❄️It’s best to let yourself drip dry instead of using a towel. This will increase the fat loss benefits because you’re burning more calories as your body reheats itself.
❄️Make sure the water is actually cold, warm water doesn’t count.
❄️Take deep breaths
❄️Do it daily if possible.
