Drum roll, please! We now have a parish logo! Yep, you heard that right! After working with Taylor McCaulley at McCaulley Media, St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Michael Mission Chapel now has its own unique logo. I intend on mentioning more at weekend Masses, but here's some information on our logo!
First, we decided to go with a natural, earthy color scheme. It is not only easy and calming to look at but also reminds us of our local connection to the land. Nestled in the heart of Cajun Country, we are known for our rich agricultural history and thriving farming community. This reminds us of our history and identity, with the Church parish as the beating heart.
The shield reminds us of two important titles of St. Joseph and St. Michael. Both saints are seen as defenders and protectors of the universal Church. A shield, therefore, is the perfect representation of that. St. Michael is also often depicted holding a shield as he casts out Satan and the other fallen angels.
The main focus of the logo, however, is that of the sword and staff with lilies. St. Michael holds the sword high as he leads God's heavenly hosts, while St. Joseph holds a staff with lilies, pointing to his immense love of Christ, Mary, and eventually Mother Church. The sword represents St. Michael's Chapel, and the staff with lilies represents St. Joseph Church.
Once again, I am grateful to McCaulley Media for the help on this project! This is just the first step in working on our parish branding, keep an eye open for more in the coming months!
