🧳 What an incredible experience!

Although my primary responsibility has been serving as a Friends of Darrell C. Odom’s volunteer digital campaign specialist, I was honored to help work the polls on Primary Election Day. Stepping away from the screen and meeting voters face to face reminded me that every conversation and every volunteer plays a role in strengthening our communities.

Seeing the overall campaign’s momentum reflected in the official results has made me even more grateful for the opportunity to be part of this amazing team. I’m thankful for the trust, the friendships, and the chance to help tell the story of a campaign built on service.

This journey isn’t over, and I’m looking forward to seeing it all the way through.

📍Celebrating Freedom, Culture, and Community in Laurel! ✊🏾🎉

I am attending the 5th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration at Emancipation Community Park in Laurel, MD.

The event brings together residents, community organizations, local vendors, families, and visitors for an afternoon filled with music, food, culture, and fellowship. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

It was inspiring to see so many people came together to honor this important part of American history while supporting local businesses, celebrating Black culture, and strengthening community connections.

Thank you to the City of Laurel, the Juneteenth Committee, volunteers, vendors, performers, and everyone who helped make this year’s celebration a success.

I’ve been gradually trying to bridge the gap between my 12-year old son using his electronic devices as toys vs. tools with the introduction of his tablet’s email and calendar apps in conjunction with StudentVUE.

Those two apps are some of the most common I use in my everyday life. And like he once said to me, “Spend enough time doing anything and you’ll get good at it.”

With that in mind, fatherhood continues to be the most significant role I’ve ever held, so what better way is there for me to practice being a man of service than through parenting?
