Most social media ads don’t get ignored because they’re bad. They get ignored because they feel like… ads.
In the world of wellness marketing, we’re seeing a huge shift: audiences are tuning out faster than ever.
CPMs rise, CTRs drop, and it’s not just an algorithm problem.
It’s a human one.
People are burned out.
Their feeds are overflowing with “me too” offers, flashy headlines, and pushy CTAs.
And even the best products get scrolled past when they show up wearing a costume that screams sales pitch.
Here’s the pattern I’m noticing: the more polished the ad, the faster people scroll.
The more it feels like a brand talking at you instead of a real person connecting with you, the quicker it disappears into the noise.
We’re not just competing with other marketers anymore.
We’re competing with baby photos, heartfelt life updates, hilarious memes, and friend-to-friend stories that actually matter.
So what’s working?
Ads that disarm. Ads that teach. Ads that surprise.
Think carousels that genuinely help.
A short video that makes someone laugh.
A static image that mimics a personal post, not a polished promo.
In my own work with wellness clients, the biggest wins come when we stop acting like advertisers and start acting like humans.
Want attention?
Show up like someone they’d want in their feed even if you weren’t selling anything.
Here’s what I tell clients: scroll through your feed.
What non-ad content actually moves you?
What do you pause for?
What makes you smile or think?
Start there. Model after that.
Because when your ad feels like a friend, not a pitch, your audience leans in, and that’s when real conversion begins.
