Our core beliefs often live inside the stories we tell about ourselves.
In this video, I’m reading a short story I wrote as part of Day 2 of Core Beliefs Creative Week: Storytelling — Rewriting Your Narrative. The story follows a character who carries a negative core belief — and slowly begins to see themselves differently.
This exercise isn’t about pretending everything is suddenly okay.
It’s about gently experimenting with a new, more supportive belief and noticing how the story shifts when perspective changes.
✨ The creative prompt behind this video:
Write a short story where the main character carries a negative belief you want to shift.
Halfway through, rewrite the story — not by erasing the struggle, but by allowing the character to try a new way of seeing themselves.
The story I share — about an “ugly mug” — explores beliefs like “I’m not good enough” and “I’m ugly”, and how awareness alone can begin to soften those beliefs.
This kind of storytelling helps the brain rewire gently.
When we change the narrative, we create space for new meaning, self-compassion, and growth.
This video is part of my work with Artwareness, where I combine emotional awareness, creativity, and gentle neuroscience to help people understand themselves without pressure or perfection.
