THE MYSTERY

SASQUATCH 🦶🌲
WHO — OR WHAT — IS BIGFOOT?

For generations, people have reported encounters with a massive, human-like creature hiding in the wilderness.

But the story goes much deeper than footprints.

BEFORE “BIGFOOT”

LONG BEFORE BIGFOOT…

Indigenous nations across North America preserved stories about mysterious beings associated with forests, mountains, and wilderness.

These stories existed long before modern cryptozoology.

And they weren’t all describing the same thing.

🌲 Different nations
🗣️ Different languages
👁️ Different meanings
🌎 Different traditions

WHERE DID “SASQUATCH” COME FROM?

THE WORD ITSELF HAS INDIGENOUS ROOTS

“Sasquatch” is generally understood as an anglicized form of Sásq’ets, associated with the Halkomelem-speaking Stó:lō peoples of British Columbia.

The term was later popularized in the early 20th century by J.W. Burns.

The modern word may be familiar…

But the stories are much older.

MORE THAN AN ANIMAL

THE “WILD MAN” OF THE FOREST 🌲

In some Indigenous traditions, mysterious forest beings were not simply viewed as undiscovered animals.

They could represent:

GUARDIANS
TEACHERS
WARNINGS
SPIRITUAL BEINGS
THE UNKNOWN

⚠️ Indigenous traditions are diverse. Different nations have different stories, meanings, and names. They should not all be treated as versions of one “Bigfoot.”

THE CREATURE PEOPLE DESCRIBE

WHAT DOES BIGFOOT LOOK LIKE? 👁️

Reported descriptions commonly include:

🦶 Large human-like feet
🚶 Bipedal walking
💪 Massive physical size
🧔 Dark or reddish-brown hair
👤 Human-like body proportions
🌲 Remote wilderness habitat

Some reports describe creatures 6–15 feet tall.

But eyewitness accounts vary dramatically.

THE 1967 FILM

THE FOOTAGE THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING 🎥

In 1967, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin filmed what appeared to be a large, hair-covered, human-like figure near Bluff Creek, California.

The figure became known as:

“PATTY”

To believers, it remains one of the most compelling pieces of Bigfoot evidence ever captured.

To skeptics?

A person in a costume.

Nearly 60 years later, the debate continues.

🌑 THE SAME FACE

There’s something remarkable about looking at the Moon.

Night after night, we are generally looking at the same side of it.

The Moon rotates on its axis while orbiting Earth, and those two periods are almost exactly the same length. This phenomenon is known as tidal locking.

As the Moon travels around Earth, it turns at just the right rate to keep the same hemisphere facing us.

So we’re not seeing a completely different face every night.

We’re seeing the same face illuminated differently.

The landscape remains.

The light changes.

And suddenly, our perception changes with it.

Maybe there’s a lesson hidden in that simple celestial relationship:

You don’t always need to change what is in front of you.

Sometimes, changing the light is enough to reveal something that was already there.

🌕 THE MOON IS THE MAP

The Moon has been watching Earth long before we ever understood what we were looking at.

Every phase marks a position in a cycle:

🌑 Beginning
🌒 Becoming
🌓 Building
🌔 Growing
🌕 Fullness
🌖 Releasing
🌗 Turning inward
🌘 Returning

The Moon doesn’t disappear.

It changes what part of itself is illuminated.

And because the Moon is tidally locked to Earth, we continually face the same lunar hemisphere.

The same face.

Different light.

Different moment.

Maybe that’s the map.

Not a map telling us where to go…

but a map showing us where we are in the cycle.

🌕 Look up.

🌕 THE NEXT CHAPTER

Every Full Moon eventually begins to fade.

Not because the light is gone.

Because another cycle is beginning.

Take what you’ve learned.

Release what you’ve outgrown.

Protect what you’ve built.

And walk forward without needing to know exactly where the road ends.

The Moon doesn’t ask permission to change.

Neither should you.

🌕
NEW CYCLE.
NEW ENERGY.
NEW CHAPTER.

🔥 YOU ARE NOT WHO YOU WERE

The Moon entered the shadow…

and came back.

That’s transformation.

You can enter difficult seasons without becoming a victim of them.

You can lose something and still find yourself.

You can outgrow an identity you once thought would last forever.

The old version of you doesn’t have to die violently.

Sometimes you simply stop returning to it.

🐟 MOVE LIKE THE STURGEON

Ancient.
Patient.
Resilient.

The Sturgeon doesn’t need to rush the river.

It knows how to survive deep water.

Maybe that’s the reminder this moon brings:

You don’t have to have everything figured out.

You just have to keep moving.

Keep growing.

Keep becoming.

Some journeys are meant to take time.

🌕 RELEASE

Not everything deserves to come with you into the next chapter.

Some relationships.
Some habits.
Some fears.
Some versions of yourself.

The Full Moon reminds us that completion is just as important as beginning.

Tonight, ask yourself:

What am I carrying that I no longer need?

Then let the tide take it.

🌑 WHEN THE LIGHT ENTERS THE SHADOW

For a moment, the Moon disappeared into Earth’s shadow.

And maybe that’s the lesson.

Not everything hidden is lost.

Sometimes we have to move through darkness to see what the light was showing us all along.

The eclipse represents a pause between what was and what comes next.

A moment to look inward.

To face what you’ve avoided.

To understand what needs to change.

The shadow isn’t the end of the story.

It’s part of the transformation. 🌑

🌕 THE STURGEON MOON

There is a certain power that comes with reaching the end of a season.

The Sturgeon Moon arrives as summer begins to fade—reminding us to recognize what we have grown, what we have survived, and what we have gathered along the way.

Strength isn’t always loud.

Sometimes strength is simply continuing to swim through deep water.

This moon asks:

What have you built?
What have you survived?
And what abundance are you finally ready to recognize?
