Life update! I have been SO behind on this because 2026 has started out with a BANG. Joined my very first writer's room with some legends in the film industry, got some cogs moving, and then got that bug that's been circling yet again...

So I was deep in rest and self-care when Empowerhouse premiered my short America is Amazing, Mom on their YouTube channel!

We first came into contact after the FilAm Creative Film Festival in 2024, and this is a labor of love from both ends. Our community really came through in making me feel welcome and connected to where I came from. A big Thank You to Empowerhouse and the whole team for making this little filipina feel very loved.

Part 3.

Completely humbled and blown away by Tristian's pre-planning. It was exactly what I wanted.

As this is the last part, I just want to say that film is one of the only careers where you SHOULD work with your friends. Tristian was a friend before he was my DP and that's why we could communicate so well.

Trust should never be underestimated!

Part 2.

My Director of Photography (Tristian Ibarra Martin) did a fantastic job making our set extremely efficient. We only had 2 days, 12 hours each, and needed the sun to naturally light the mortuary. Of course, being winter, the sun set at 4pm.

Without his meticulous notes and weeks of pre-planning, we would never have had the ease we did on the shoot days.

Part 1.

It was the first time I went with my Director of Photography to a rental house to choose our lenses. DFI Rentals was so professional and helpful.

Tristian helped me understand what each lens's strength and weakness was. Together we chose the Mamiya Sekor 35mm so we didn't need to switch out per shot.

My second film festival selection was also from my kababayans. 🤗 This time we won Best Cinematography, which again is so heartwarming because my good friend Tristian is so talented that I'm really happy he got recognition for his work.
