The dreaded instagram algorithm…. We have all come to know it- some of us love it and some of us hate it.

We can go days and days trying to crack the code of the mysterious algorithm but one thing we know for sure is that… VIDEOS ARE WHERE IT’S AT (seriously, even the CEO of Instagram said it himself).

No matter what you do, just trust us and create video content! Here’s why:

⚡️Stories: Stories are placed at the top of a user’s feed and therefore are the first thing they see when opening the app, no matter the ways the algorithm might be prioritizing other content. Not only this, but stories are where you can show up as your most authentic self and engage with your audience, which allows for your followers to feel that they are closer to you and feel like they know you better.

⚡️Reels: 2020 was a massive year for reels and they are only getting bigger. The power of reels is incredible when it comes to overall reach and engagement- seriously, check your analytics, the numbers show! People are going viral, getting their name out there, and in return, getting more followers which is equal to more possible sales for us business people. Remember, we want people to spend as much time as possible on our profiles, which is why video content is amazing and leads us to IGTVs.

⚡️IGTV: In order to gain more reach, Instagram wants to see people actually engaging with your profile, which is why longer videos are great. IGTVs allow you to really show up for your audience and can be great for talking about something more serious, promoting a new product, or giving a tutorial that would take longer than a 30-second reel. IGTVs feel deeply personal and show that you are not afraid to use your voice and show your face.

When we were scrolling through Instagram one day, this quote jumped out at us. 🤩

“Marketing is like asking someone on a date, branding is the reason they say yes.” ⚡️⚡️

Let’s take social media for instance, if someone finds you via a hashtag (the marketing) and they click on your profile, will they want to stay (the branding)?

If you want people to say yes to sticking around and following along on your journey, you need to make sure your marketing and your message are cohesive i.e. is your brand and marketing strategy in line with one another? Do you know your target audience and is your content helping them with their pain points? Is your content good quality and relevant?

If you answered no or are unsure to any of these questions, you need to do more market research. If you answered yes to all of these questions, amazing- your brand and marketing strategy is aligned.

Are you so focused on the future and what you have to do, rather than the present and all that you have accomplished so far?

If this is you, you aren’t alone. We as humans are not only programmed to be future oriented, but always on the go so we can move as fast and do as much as we can.

Although being motivated and forward thinking is amazing in most cases, let us not forget to reflect on how far we have already come.

Remind yourself of the times that you felt like giving up, quitting, and throwing in the towel. Congratulate yourself for not only sticking it out but growing into the amazing person you are today. When we reflect on ourselves, we are able to more efficiently grow into the future us that we want to be.
