We recently asked our Head of Strategy, Jennifer, what she wishes more founders understood before working with an agency or consultant.

Her answer wasn't ROAS.
It wasn't creative.
It wasn't marketing channels.

It was understanding their numbers.

Most founders know revenue. They know how many orders came in last month. They know what's happening on the surface. But when you start digging deeper, things often get a little less clear.

What's your true customer acquisition cost by channel?
What's your lifetime value?
Are customers purchasing again within 90 days?
Which channels are actually driving profitable growth?

The founders who make the best decisions aren't necessarily looking at more dashboards. They're focused on the metrics that actually tell them what's happening inside the business.

The better you understand your numbers, the better your decisions become.

Most Shopify brands don't plateau because of marketing.

They plateau because the founder becomes the bottleneck, or the business runs out of financial flexibility right when growth starts showing up.

We've seen it happen at every stage. Founders who are still approving every decision, touching every task, and staying involved in work they should have delegated months ago. Or founders who start pulling too much cash out of the business before it's ready.

The founders who scale aren't always the smartest. They're not always the best marketers either.

They evolve their role as the business grows and they stay disciplined with cash long enough to capitalize on bigger opportunities when they show up.

Growth isn't always about finding the next tactic.
Sometimes it's about getting out of your own way.

If you sell into the EU, there's a compliance change coming on June 19 that most Shopify brands haven't even heard about.

The rule itself isn't new. EU customers have always had a 14-day right to change their mind and return an order.

What's changing is how they start that process.

From June 19, 2026, EU shoppers must be able to initiate a withdrawal request through a clear, customer-facing button on your website. The catch? Shopify doesn't currently provide a native feature that satisfies this requirement.

Your existing refund and cancellation tools live in the Shopify admin. The EU wants customers to be able to start the process themselves through a visible and accessible flow on your storefront.

For most brands, the fix is relatively simple:
• Install a compliant returns app
• Add the required customer-facing flow
• Update your returns policy

It's a small update, but one that's worth getting right if you sell into Europe.

We recently sat down with Lindsey, founder of Dryft Sleep, to discuss her journey building a brand from the ground up.

One of the biggest takeaways was her approach to influencer marketing.

Rather than focusing purely on paid partnerships, Dryft Sleep has built relationships with creators by reaching out directly, gifting products, and connecting with people who genuinely align with the brand.

Some of those relationships have grown into larger opportunities. Others have stayed small. Both have helped build awareness and trust.

It's a great reminder that brand building is often about relationships first and marketing second.

When people genuinely connect with your product, they're far more likely to share it with others.

If you're growing a consumer brand, the full interview is packed with practical insights from Lindsey's experience building Dryft Sleep.

This is what happens when Mason takes the wheel.

2.11 ROAS to 4.60 ROAS. 6x the spend, 13x the revenue. 12 months.

Mason Snow leads paid media at Pacific IQ and EcomIQ. He treats every dollar of spend like it's coming out of his own pocket, because for the founders we work with, it effectively is.

Same brand. Same products. Different operator.

Still our client today.

Most brands don’t have an app problem.

They have a decision problem.

There are thousands of apps that can do reviews, upsells, subscriptions, search, all of it. On paper, they all look solid.

If you stack the wrong ones together, things get messy fast.
Performance drops. UX gets clunky. Margins get eaten away.

This is why we spend time on the ground at events like Shoptalk.

Not only for the networking. Not only for the hype.

To actually get hands-on with the tools.

Sitting through demos.
Asking the questions most people don’t ask.
Seeing where things break, not just where they shine.

Because at the end of the day, the difference between a clean, high-performing store and a bloated one usually comes down to a handful of decisions in the stack.

Same category. Completely different outcomes.

If your store feels heavier than it should, or things aren’t converting the way they should be, I’d start there.

Not more apps.
Better ones.
That’s the lever.

If you’re not sure which apps are right for your store, we’re happy to run a complimentary audit and point you in the right direction.

Most people see the finished product.

The cakes, the brand, the growth.

What they don’t see is what it takes to make it all work.

Erica’s business is a make-to-order eCom model, which means everything needs to be tight, from production to fulfilment.

Now 5 years in, she’s scaled into:
A larger location
Retail
Digital

And a full team running day-to-day operations

We went behind the scenes to see how it all comes together.

It’s a good reminder, growth only works if the backend can handle it.
