It’s honestly wild how Naomi Scott’s performance in SMILE 2 never reached the same level of mainstream praise that Inde Navarrette is now getting for OBSESSION.
Scott completely carried SMILE 2 as Skye Riley, spending nearly the entire movie spiraling through panic, addiction, grief, paranoia and full psychological collapse. Critics at the time repeatedly called it career defining, phenomenal and one of the strongest horror performances of 2024.
Inde Navarrette absolutely deserves the huge praise she is receiving for OBSESSION, with some critics already calling her performance Oscar worthy. But that makes the contrast even crazier, because Naomi was doing equally unhinged, physically exhausting work in SMILE 2 two years earlier.
Different movies, different performances, both incredible. But Naomi Scott really deserved to be part of this exact same conversation when SMILE 2 came out.
