I can write algorithms, but I donโt know how to drive a car. Itโs too much of a challenge for some reason.
Autism means some things are still hard , like loud spaces or unexpected changes. I have a trip to help someone before they go back to Korea. So I have to catch a Greyhound bus, which always feels debilitating.
Just the thought of it has caused me stress for days, and I still havenโt finished packing. I do have earbuds, and it helps to listen to sounds that are comforting. My sense of smell is sensitive so I hope no one has strong odors, I purchased my own seat and they donโt really allow you to buy two seats.
Every time I go through something like this, I manage to do everything in 24 hours because I have to. I should have had my packing done days ago, but the stress made it difficult to start.
Maybe Iโm not fully complaining, just explaining. Iโve adapted to this pattern, but itโs still very challenging, and I donโt get as much done when I feel this way.
I think AI, machine learning and data science could help manage daily stressors. Maybe with predictive tools for identifying low sensory environments, or machine learning powered travel planners that reduce decision fatigue. Maybe even emotion aware interfaces could also make a real difference. These tools could bring more ease into experiences that are often overwhelming.
