Sometimes getaway is less about escapism and more about presence and finding place.

This is why we gather together. Leaning into connection, belonging, and allowing ourselves to be authentically known is essential to a life well lived. When this becomes rhythm, we find more joy, often feeling ourselves more alive, more inspired, more contented.

It’s why we created The Hygge Dinner— creating atmosphere for meaningful connection is what we do. Combined with nourishing, locally sourced eats and coziness inherent with the autumn season, this is truly the time to gather together.

Hi, I’m Kim, curator of cozy gatherings and creative soul behind The Hygge Gathering.

Tonight is summer solstice, longer days mean more time to gather. Here a few of our ways to hygge through these warmer months followed by a few snaps of how we’re savoring the everyday in this season.

𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐧𝐮𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲!! 𝐓𝐨 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐚’𝐬 𝐆𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐧-𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐧𝐮𝐭.

Doughnut:
2 c. gluten-free flour (prefer King Arthur brand)
11/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 c. cane sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c. palm shortening (can use butter)
1/4 c. oil (prefer avocado oil)
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 c. coconut cream (can sub for nondairy or dairy milk)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Topping:
2 c. confection sugar
1 tsp pure maple syrup
1/4 c. coconut milk (or any milk)
4 slices uncured bacon
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Cook bacon. Once cooled, chop & garnish at end.
✨ Preheat over to 350. Spray donut pan with oil.
✨ In large bowl combine dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, sugar, salt.
✨ In medium bowl combine wet ingredients: palm shortening, oil, vanilla, eggs, and coconut cream.
✨ Combine wet & dry ingredients and mix.
✨ Pour batter into donut tin- 3/4 full.
✨ Bake for 12-17 minutes. Toothpick check-- out clean, they are done.
✨ Place on cooling rack.

Icing:
✨ Mix confection powder sugar, maple syrup, and coconut milk and stir until smooth
✨ Dip top of cooled donut then top with chopped bacon.

Mix together with soft lighting, relaxed surroundings, and yummy food to make for a lovely hygge gathering.
