Many of you know I do my torch work for Harpley at Stained Glass Express - what you may not know is that when my wife isn’t teaching 7th grade, helping with Harpley, or learning glass art herself, she does marketing at Stained Glass Express. Had to share this end of year post from my favorite person and my favorite store!

As the year comes to a close, we’ve been thinking about how much we’re like stained glass.
From up close, all we see are the cracks, the jagged edges, the pieces that don’t always seem to fit. Some sections are darker than others. Some carry old breaks we never planned for. But step back—and let the light shine through—and suddenly the whole story makes sense.
This year held joy and loss, growth and pauses, moments we’d relive and moments we’ve learned from. Every piece mattered. Nothing was wasted.
A new year doesn’t mean we erase the past. It means we gather the pieces with gentler hands, choose what to keep, and let the light meet us where we are now. New beginnings aren’t about becoming someone else—they’re about seeing ourselves more clearly.
Here’s to reflection, to resilience, and to becoming something beautiful in the light of what we’ve lived. Happy New Year from all of us at Stained Glass Express.
