Announcing our App Nestnotes, where you can record, share & cherish all your family memories!
When my first daughter was born, I wanted to create a way to capture her rapid growth and many milestones in a single frame-able print. So I created the Paloma Poster, a fully personalized infographic of her first year, named in her honor. Because of the great response, I created multiple versions of the Paloma Poster that parents could fill out themselves or that I would personalize and print by hand. I ran my small business, StrangeBirdy, from my home, while I juggled a full time job as a creative director for a small college. I can remember each poster I printed, and every fulfilling conversation I had with customers over the years.
As Paloma grew, and my second daughter was born, I struggled to find a creative platform that could keep up with all the memories we were making, including my rapidly expanding camera roll. I wanted something that would harmoniously marry my love of print design with the genuine need to have a secure digital archive and record of my family. I came to find out that I wasn’t alone with this dilemma—many longed for that bridge between our digital world and our analog lives.
Like many other parents, I’ve battled with the desire to share photos of my kids and their milestones with friends and family while not feeling fully secure about the sharing platforms that were available. I also wanted a place where I felt like I was sharing collective family memories for my kids to enjoy when they are older, as opposed them having to sort through a mixed feed of political rants and what-not that you find on typical social media.
And, with my own terrible memory, I wanted something that would help guide the process and remind me what to capture. Beyond that, I wanted this dream platform of mine to be able to take my digital archive and translate it into all sorts of fully personalized print products: the baby book I never filled out, family albums, travel journals, birth announcements, etc. The feel of actual ink and paper, memories you can have and hold, pages of family moments that you can turn together with your child. So, because I couldn’t find such a platform, I left my job of eight years, found an amazingly talented partner, and we built it ourselves!
Finally, I’m proud to announce that our app, Nestnotes, is officially available to download on iTunes (for free). Please check it out. For those not on iOS devices, you can access Nestnotes from your computer or phone at nestnotes.com.
Nestnotes will continue to add new print products and features over the coming weeks and months. We are as excited for what’s to come as we are about what we’ve already built. And I want to thank each and every one of my StrangeBirdy customers for trusting your family memories with me and giving me the honor of designing a My First Year poster for your child.
As a thank you to all of you, I’m offering you a 25% discount on your first print product purchase. Simply enter the code birdy25 at checkout and if you have any problems or questions with anything, please don’t hesitate to shoot me an email.
Sincerely,
Chase
