Let’s be real.

Your marketing isn’t terrible. It’s just… busy work.

Someone’s posting. Boosting. “Trying things.” But no one is steering the ship, and you can feel it.

At Journey Marketing, we step in, look at everything, and show you what’s actually moving revenue and what’s just noise. If you’re ready to stop spinning and start moving, reach out for a marketing evaluation.

I was talking with a small business owner this week who threw his hands up and said, “Kelsey, there is just TOO MUCH marketing out there!”

And he’s right: the world is loud. Everyone is vying for attention.

But the brands that rise above the noise aren’t the ones posting the most. They’re the ones creating marketing that’s deeply relevant to their customers. Marketing that actually understands what people need… and why it matters to them.

That’s the work I love most: helping small businesses cut through the overwhelm by connecting what they offer to what their customers actually care about.

✨ So before you write your next post, ask:
“Does this speak to something my customer is already thinking about or struggling with?” If the answer is yes, you’re on the right track. If not, go back to the drawing board or reach out to me.

isn’t about shouting. It’s about connecting.

A lot of small business owners think “doing content” means squeezing in a blog post when you can, tossing up a graphic, and hoping people pay attention. And honestly? With everything on your plate, that’s totally understandable.

But here’s the thing: good content isn’t about doing more.
It’s about doing the right content at the right time.

Your customers go through a natural journey before they ever buy from you (even if it happens quietly in their heads). And when your content matches where they’re at, everything works better. You get more engagement, more trust, and more people actually taking the next step.

In my newest blog, I break it into three simple stages anyone can follow:
1. Awareness: Help people understand the problem they’re dealing with.
2. Consideration: Give them answers and help them compare options.
3. Decision: Make the next step clear (without being salesy).
When your content lines up with real human behavior, you don’t have to push. It just clicks.

If you want practical examples for each stage, things you can actually post, you’ll find them in the blog.

Huge thank you to the women who came out for our afternoon meetup of female founders! I loved being surrounded with women who were honest, supportive, and so easy to connect with. And thanks to the guys who shared the invite with the women in their lives!

I’m grateful for this community. Can’t wait to do it again!

I didn’t take any pictures during the event, so this pic from earlier in the day will have to do. Do you recognize which coffee shop it’s from!?)

It’s easy to think the answer to slow sales is more marketing: more posts, more emails, more everything.

But the real magic happens when your marketing is aligned. It's when every message meets your customer right where they are.

I wrote a blog about how to build that kind of marketing framework, one that supports people through their entire buying journey.

You can read it here:

You've tried everything. You're posting on social media. You've invested in SEO. Your email campaigns are going out like clockwork. But your content is still not getting clicks, and engagement is painfully low. Try this instead.

Building something of your own takes courage. Doing it alongside other women who believe in purpose, grit, and generosity, that’s where growth happens.

I'm thrilled to introduce the Female Founders of Northeast Ohio, a brainchild of Nikki Hamsher, Katherine Knight Kimble and myself. It's an honest gathering for women who are building businesses and believe community makes us stronger.

Ever feel like your marketing’s stuck on a hamster wheel? 🐹
You’re putting in the effort (posting, tweaking, tracking), but somehow it’s still lots of clicks, few leads, and way too much stress.

Here’s the truth: it’s not about working harder. Most marketing problems start when your audience, message, and customer journey aren’t lined up. Just one small gap, and all that effort stops moving the needle.

I just wrote a blog about this: “The Real Reason Most Marketing Problems Happen.” It breaks down what causes those quiet misalignments and how to fix them so your marketing starts working with you, not against you.

If your marketing feels like a lot of motion but not enough momentum—this one’s for you.

Let’s be honest. Marketing isn’t magic. It’s not a quick fix, a shiny new website, or posting more on social media. Those might sound like solutions, but most marketing problems don’t come from doing too little. They come from...

I love helping small- and medium-sized compete with the big guys. The trick? Marketing personas that are made with data, empathy and customer insights. (It's not just for large businesses!)

You would be amazed at how many large businesses (yes, even marketing agencies) let their marketing personas gather dust on the shelf.

Head over to my blog to learn what marketing personas are, and how you can use them to make better decisions for your business! https://www.journeymarketing.co/how-to-use-marketing-personas
