Sendiks is celebrating their 95th anniversary by offering deals this week on several local Wisconsin products. They work with over 250 local companies. I stocked up and became familiar with several new to me Wisconsin products even a new to me cheese - Juusto.

The Soup Market makes fresh, from scratch soups in Bay View. They sell a variety of bisques, chowders and stews. In addition to selling they have five retail locations. Unfortunately their lease was not renewed at the Milwaukee Public Market, so they could use a little support - soup is $5.99 a container this week at Sendiks.

What is your favorite way to enjoy maple syrup?

The jug of Wisconsin pure maple syrup I purchased from says it is delicious on pancakes, ice cream, baked beans, grapefruit and hot cereal.

I enjoy it on french toast with real Wisconsin butter, drizzled over roasted vegetables and as a sweetener in baking. My co-workers use it in place of sugar in their coffee.

Krings Family Farms started making maple syrup 3 years ago in Arpin, Wisconsin. This year they tapped 300 trees. It takes 40 trees to make one gallon of syrup.

Their children love dipping pork chops in maple syrup. 😋

They have syrup available to purchase locally or to ship - prices are on their FB page - see

I knew I would feature Viren Apothecary's low waste, green and effective cleaning products in my the first time I heard about them. I liked that they were sustainable and didn't smell like vinegar or leave a residue like other sustainable cleaners.

I purchased the wash and wear dryer ball spray in cucumber & cotton. I plan to use with the dryer balls I purchased on from a Wisconsin maker awhile back to help prevent static cling. I love the beautiful glass jar it comes in.

I also bought a tin sampler of toilet bowl bombs called the trio of hope. The fragrances included are blood orange + currant, violet + verbena and white tea + pear. They smell so good. This would make a great wedding shower gift, house warming gift, hostess gift or an any occasion gift for someone who loves eco-friendly products.

Viren Apothecary is a woman owned business based in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. I purchased from her Etsy account - see

She also gives back - 15% of all the trio of hope toilet bowl bomb tins and 10% of the limited edition bag in the same fragrances will be donated to The Hope House.

Have you tried either of these products? I can't wait to try them along with the all-purpose cleaner which is on my list for next time.

Sad to hear Rupena's is struggling - such a great caterer. They are the go to caterer for our family in Milwaukee. Send them some business if you can:
