🌧️ A little extra “Heavenly Dripps” this week…

It may be a gray and rainy day, but the garden certainly isn’t complaining.

All those drips from heaven are doing what they do best—helping fill the garden with color, beauty, and more flowers than we can keep to ourselves. 💐

So we’ve been gathering that goodness up into bouquets, and fresh flowers are available today at West End Bakery!

Stop scrolling for just a second…

…and take a look at these flowers. 🌸

Our feature bouquet this week is a stunning all-white arrangement filled with creamy sunflowers, fluffy hydrangea, lisianthus, snapdragons, and other fresh blooms gathered straight from our garden. It’s elegant, peaceful, and one of those bouquets that makes an entire room feel brighter.

Looking for something a little more colorful? We’ve also stocked the shelf with cheerful mason jar arrangements bursting with dahlias, snapdragons, zinnias, sunflowers, and other seasonal favorites. Each one is unique, handcrafted, and picked fresh here at Heavenly Dripps.

Meet the Flowers: Gladiolus

With their tall, elegant stems reaching toward the sky, gladiolus are among the most striking flowers in the summer garden.

Their name comes from the Latin word gladius, meaning “sword,” inspired by their long, blade-like leaves. Each stem slowly opens from the bottom to the top, revealing new blooms day after day.

A few fun facts:

🌿 Gladiolus can grow over four feet tall.

🌸 Each stem carries many blossoms that bloom in succession.

☀️ They’re a favorite for adding height, color, and elegance to summer bouquets.

In Christian tradition, gladiolus have taken on beautiful spiritual symbolism. Their upward-reaching blooms remind us to lift our hearts toward heaven and the hope of Christ’s Resurrection and Ascension. Their sword-shaped leaves also recall the prophecy of Simeon to Mary:

“And a sword will pierce through your own soul also.”
— Luke 2:35

For this reason, gladiolus are often included in funeral arrangements as a sign of hope in the Resurrection and are sometimes associated with Our Lady of Sorrows.

🌿 Garden Reflection

As gladiolus stretch heavenward, they remind us that our lives are meant to be lived with our eyes fixed on Christ. Even through sorrow, God is always drawing us toward the promise of eternal life.
