I installed my last sign this morning. Besides the last pickups tomorrow, I will be a retired ninja. Tonight, I will work with the new owner to be sure all has transitioned to her smoothly. So, while I still have access to the page, I wanted to say a final goodbye. It’s been the best gig ever. Since 2019, thousands of signs! Every single one unique. Every sign special. In cold, rain, snow, wind, heat, ice, lightning (I know, bad idea) I enjoyed it all. All because I knew I was helping someone celebrate a special occasion. I still remember most of the signs we did and can’t drive down a neighborhood without remembering who’s yards I’ve been in or a story that went along with their sign. I’m ready for my next adventures but am taking so many amazing memories with me. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives for so many years. I have no idea how I am even putting this all into words, I feel like I could write for days. But I hope you all know my heart and how I have felt about this business, and I hope you know how much I will miss it (except the early mornings and late nights and all the other juggling! I am a tired ninja that is ready for a break) I remember before covid, dreaming of how I hoped the sign business would boom, but never saw the success that I had coming! It has exceeded my expectations and I hope I have made you all proud of a girl with humble beginnings.
A few special shout outs:
MY LOYAL CUSTOMERS – You have become my best friends and extended family. I have enjoyed watching your kids grow, from double digits to driving, sweet 16 to graduating, even weddings and babies. I have loved celebrating years of marriage, retirements, farewells and homecomings. It was always nice to know you felt having a sign for your special event or day made it complete. You made my business a success and I am grateful for you.
ASHLEY - You are what got me through the past 7 years. I knew in 2019 that I would need help and you were the first person I asked. You dipped your toe in to test the waters and got hooked on the joy just like me! You were the best assistant/helper I could have ever asked for and I don’t know what I would have done without you. We made a great team, you were my brain so many days and put your heart into it as if it was your own. Thank you for coming with me last night for one last night of set ups. And thank you for helping me organize and pack things up for the new owner and going down memory lane. I will cherish our crazy sign stories forever.
MY DAUGHTERS, HAYLEY, GRIER & HARPER – Thank you for being patient with me when I have always been so busy. You have all been the best cheerleaders. I know that you have spent way too much time in the mini van while I was doing signs. I know that many nights the younger ones didn’t get tucked in because I was out too late. I know you haven’t always enjoyed sorting stars or picking up signs. But I hope I have shown you what hard work and reward looks like. I’ve done all of this to be an example to you. I’m glad that my schedule will free up now and we will have more time together!
AARON – You’ve put up with a lot of sign stories in our time together. You’ve tagged along and picked up signs when I was overwhelmed. You fueled me with coffee and given me a place to rest my tired head. I’ve been busy when we could have done something fun. Thank you for all your encouragement and patience. I’m excited for weekend adventures with you.
HEATHER – Thank you for seeing the sparkle in my eye 7 years ago when I saw you doing a sign set up. When you were operating SG for the whole QC and knew you wanted to split it up, I am thankful you trusted me to start my own location on the IL side. I am so glad you did a sign for me at my kids school…the first of SO MANY signs in my own life. My life changed in a big way, all because of you.
Thank you everyone, for helping me build a successful business. I will never forget you all.
I’m not crying. Deep breath. All the love.
