Ft. Pierre Livestock Auction (Ft. Pierre, SD) hosted the largest reported feeder cattle sale on Friday and the largest sale of the week, marketing 6,198 head. The National Steer Price climbed to $368.01 on Friday, the highest in weeks, because of reduced receipts and a rare increase in 7 wts relative to 8 wts. The average price for 7 wts reached $372.45. Manhattan Commission Company (Manhattan, KS) led Friday's top reported sales with 24 head weighing 731 lbs at $400.00, 10 head weighing 740 lbs at $398.00, and 70 head weighing 719 lbs at $393.25.

Friday's auction volume was led by Ft. Pierre Livestock in South Dakota, which marketed more than 6,100 head. Manhattan Commission Company in Kansas ranked second, while Torrington Markets in Wyoming, Turlock in California, and Tri-State in Virginia rounded out the top five.

CLARA LIVE 📈 Top Steer Sales of the Day: Russell and Joplin Set the Pace

Russell Livestock Market in Iowa posted the highest reported steer sales in three weight groups on Monday, leading the 300-399 pound division with 345-pound steers at $695.00/cwt, the 600-699 pound division with 623-pound steers at $492.00/cwt, and the 900-999 pound division with 904-pound steers at $367.50/cwt.

Joplin Regional Stockyards followed with a strong showing of its own, posting the top sale in the 700-799 pound category as 706-pound steers sold for $424.00/cwt and the highest 1,000-1,099 pound sale in the country with 1,019-pound steers bringing $336.00/cwt.

Callaway Livestock Center topped the 500-599 pound division with 508-pound steers at $563.00/cwt, while Sugar Valley Livestock in Nebraska led the 400-499 pound category at $620.00/cwt. The 800-899 pound division ended in a tie, with both Elgin Livestock Market in Nebraska and Joplin selling steers for $388.00/cwt.

We are looking to hire a few people for sale day. (Monday only)
These will all be part time positions. Must be over 16 years old, available every Monday from 8 A.M. until the sale is over and cattle are put away. Must be physically capable of working outside all day no matter what mother nature brings because the sale must go on!
Must be capable of being on your feet and on the concrete for long hours and able to climb a fence. Knowledge of cattle is helpful, following directions and being self motivated is a must. We need people to open & shut gates as well as experienced sorters. Pay will depend on experience. Please call Jon at 541-974-2882 if you are interested.
