Happy New Year 2026 from Blair’s Review ✨
✨ One Experience a Month in 2026 ✨
A simple, local way to treat yourself
I recently saw the idea of gifting yourself one experience a month, and I honestly love it. Instead of buying more things that end up forgotten or stored away, this focuses on memories, moments, and supporting local businesses along the way.
If you want a slower, sweeter, more intentional year, this is such a fun way to do it. Here’s a local Mount Airy and surrounding area version you can actually use.
Save this post and come back to it throughout the year 💛
💆♀️ January | Massage or Facial
January is all about rest and reset. After the holidays, your body and skin deserve a little extra care. Book a massage or facial with a local spa or esthetician and start the year feeling refreshed instead of rushed.
🎶 February | Concert or Live Music
February is perfect for a date night or girls’ night out. Catch a live show or concert at the The Historic Earle Theatre & Old-Time Music Heritage Hall or another local venue. Live music always feels special and makes winter feel a little less long.
🎨 March | Creative Workshop
March brings creative energy. Look for local workshops like painting, candle making, floral design, or crafting classes. You don’t have to be artistic to enjoy it. Just showing up and trying something new is part of the experience.
🏋️♀️ April | Fitness Class Drop-In
Spring is the perfect time to move your body without pressure or long-term commitments. A great local option is Varsity Club Pilates, where your first class is free.
If you’ve ever been curious about Pilates but felt nervous to try it, this is such an easy, low-pressure way to start. It’s a great mix of strength, flexibility, and core work, and perfect for easing back into movement as the weather warms up.
🍳 May | Cooking Class
A cooking class makes such a fun experience gift. Many local chefs, bakers, and specialty shops host small classes focused on seasonal dishes or desserts. You get a great night out and skills you’ll actually use at home.
🍷 June | Wine or Mocktail Tasting
Summer sipping season is here. Visit a local winery, bar, or stop by thesommclosett on Fridays for their wine tastings.
Even if you don’t drink, mocktail tastings are becoming more popular and just as enjoyable. It’s really about the atmosphere, slowing down, and enjoying the moment with friends.
🚤 July | Boat Day or Water Activity
July is made for slowing down and enjoying the outdoors. Plan a boat day, kayaking trip, tubing adventure, or a relaxing afternoon by the water. Keep it simple, bring snacks, and soak up summer.
🏛 August | Museum or Exhibit
August is a great time to step inside somewhere inspiring. Spend a day exploring local history or exhibits at the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History. It’s a meaningful and fun way to reconnect with the community.
🧘♀️ September | Retreat or Wellness Day
As summer winds down, plan a wellness day. This could be journaling, a mini retreat, or even a quiet day unplugged. It doesn’t have to be far away or expensive to make a big difference.
🎭 October | Theater or Comedy Show
Fall is perfect for live entertainment. Catch a play, comedy show, or performance locally. Cozy nights out and live shows just feel better in October.
🍁 November | A Visit to the Farm in Dobson
November is the perfect time to slow down and soak in the season. Plan a visit to The Farm in Dobson for a cozy, fall-filled experience.
From seasonal events to local vendors and that peaceful country atmosphere, it’s such a sweet way to support local, enjoy the outdoors, and make memories as the year starts to wind down.
🎄 December | Nana Mac’s Christmas Experience
End the year with something special at Nana-Mac Meadows, LLC!
This festive event brings together Christmas lights, Santa, local vendors, food, and family-friendly fun, all while giving back to families in our community. It’s a cozy, feel-good way to enjoy the season and make memories.
💛 Why I Love This Idea
• Experiences don’t create clutter
• You always have something to look forward to
• You support local businesses
• Memories last longer than things
Whether you use this as a personal goal, a gift idea, or a way to be more intentional in 2026, one experience a month is such a beautiful place to start.
✨
With love,
