It is funny, my sister has heard me use the phrase âmind over mattersâ for dealing with pain mostly physical. But as a Christian I have learned a different way to look at that phrase. In my recent online Bible study, âBecoming An Overcomerâ. As my sister and Gerard know my favorite overcomer in the Bible is JOB.
Faith can play a significant role in the concept of âmind over matterâ by influencing an individualâs belief in their ability to affect change through mental determination; giving them the confidence and motivation to pursue their goals, overcome challenges and maintain a positive outlook. This determination is often drawing on the strength we have with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
When dealing with life in general is a challenge. But if you are dealing with physical or emotional pain we need to believe in the positive. The enemy slowly needling his way into our minds until countless strongholds are built leaving us in a negative state where we can only see bitterness, self-pity, anger, depression and/or anxiety. So, how can we change our mindsets and get out of destructive thinking patterns?
According to King James 1 Peter 1:3-4 âpraise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade; kept in heaven for youâ. Everything we need to make it in this world can be found in the world of God, Amazing.
From the writing of the REV. Billy Graham in an article shared on Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (September 13, 2021). We received information and words in our mind both negative and positive that remains. The mind is the devilâs favorite place to attack.
If we fill our minds with things of God, it begins to affect our thinking and our decisions in a positive way. Just reading the Bible will have a purifying effect upon the mind and heart. God wants our minds to be shaped by Him so that our thoughts and actions reflect Christ. âfix these words of mine in your hearts and mindâ (Deuteronomy 11:18-19).
