A little introduction post👋🏻☺️

I’m Makenzie, but most people call me Kenzie and a select few call me Kenna😆

I’ve been a photographer since I got my first camera for Christmas in high school and this year makes 5 YEARS since my business officially became Darkness to Light Media!!

I am humbled at how fast time has gone and simply in awe of all the Lord has done in that time.

If you’re looking for a photographer, here’s a few things to know about me to see if we’re a good fit:
- I love Jesus and want to be more like Him.
- I’m big on relationships. My husband is my best friend and my family means the world to me.
- I enjoy fun outfits and home decor.
- I never expected a porch goose and a golden-doodle to become part of my personality, yet here we are😂
- I have many interests and have a hard time doing just one thing! I am currently a photographer, Sign Language Interpreter, teacher, and social media manager.

All that to say this— thank you for being here! Thank you for supporting my business, and if you have trusted me to document your memories, thank you for allowing me the privilege!

Every little detail, every big moment—one truly stunning day!!

Recently, I found myself talking with a friend about “the perfect wedding day.” With the wedding photography industry being what it is today, everything being “picture perfect” has almost become the expectation. But real weddings don’t always unfold perfectly. Something gets forgotten, a word is misspoken, the clouds drift over the sunset... but at the end of the day, your wedding day is beautifully, uniquely, and perfectly your own. That’s the true beauty of your wedding photos.

Your photos tell the story of your day. They allow you to relive the thoughts, the emotions, the memories, all over again. There’s so much more to a wedding gallery than beautifully posed portraits—there are the tears after your dad sees his little girl in her wedding dress for the first time. There’s the glance you gave your mom at the end of the aisle before your parents gave you away. There are the photos of the pure joy you share with your spouse when it sets in that you’re officially married!!🤩

Those are the moments that make your wedding day unmistakably yours—the moments you’ll look back on for years to come and treasure a little more every time.

Getting to document a wedding day is always a privilege, but this one was extra special. Watching my brother-in-law marry the love of his life and having the honor of capturing it all made for an unforgettable day. 🥹

Sneak peeks!!💌📬🤍💍🫶🏻🥺
It was my honor to photograph this stunning couple while they were dating, and even more of a privilege to take their engagement photos last weekend!

Their session was met with an unexpected time crunch that was out of our control. But the variety of poses and moments we were able to capture in a short period of time is coming together into a beautiful engagement gallery. Thanking the Lord for allowing it all to work for good and for the opportunity to do something that I love!🤍

In my photography, I’m a perfectionist—I comb through every wedding gallery to give my clients the very best.

While I approach wedding videography with the same attention to detail, often the appearance of perfection achieved in photos does not transfer to video. There are no second takes and no editing out every distraction.

What it does capture is something even more meaningful than perfection—the real moments. The in-between glances, the emotion, and your love story exactly as it unfolds.
