I’ve been looking forward to sharing this. I have some great memories with close friends, driving around being heathens in the St. Louis, Grafton, Alton, and Edwardsville area. When I was asked to design a poster for this show, I immediately thought back to those days and remembered my fascination with the Piasa Bird. I knew I had to pay tribute to it. The Piasa Bird is a legendary creature from Native American folklore, particularly associated with the Illini tribe, who lived in the Mississippi River Valley, around what is now Illinois and the St. Louis area. It’s depicted as a fearsome creature, often shown with sharp talons, antlers, and a beard. You can see it painted on the side of a cliff off the Mississippi River, just outside of St. Louis.
