ABOUT ME: I guess I’ve always been a grammar geek. I won the Excellence in English award at eighth-grade graduation. Eight years later, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in communication (with a minor in English) from Rutgers University. My first “career” job was a temporary position at a public relations firm in NYC. That was followed by a direct-mail copywriting position at Prentice Hall (now part of Simon & Schuster). After a time, writing there became too “formula” and boring, leading me to move on to Hayden Publishing Company, where I worked in advertising promotion for two trade magazines. After a layoff from Hayden, I went to work at Troll Book Clubs, where I eventually became Managing Editor/Copy Chief of book club publications. I also enjoyed writing all the articles for “Prehistoric Times”—a children’s magazine—and writing and editing a few children’s books while at Troll. In recent years, I’ve written an assortment of marketing communications for nonprofit agencies and companies in the health/medial, manufacturing, environmental, insurance, publishing, and retail industries and edit book manuscripts for a regional publisher.
