This project was genuinely fun to work on, and the result shows it.

WTF Pizza is a wood-fired pizza food truck serving St. Pete and the Tampa Bay area. They’re always moving, always at a new location, and the food is made fresh every single time. The brand has so much personality already. What was missing was a website that could hold all of that and actually do something useful with it.

The goal was straightforward: build a full website that shows off what they do. Something that immediately communicates who they are, shows off the menu, tells customers where to find them, and makes it easy for event organizers to reach out and book.

Every design decision tied back to the brand. Black base with fire tones, big bold type, food photography that does the selling, a layout that moves fast because the customer searching for a food truck is not sitting around waiting for a slow, over-designed page to load.

The finished website fits them perfectly. It’s warm, a little bold, and built to convert browsers into customers.

If your business has a great personality but your website isn’t showing it, drop the name and what you do in the comments or send me a DM and let’s change that.

I had one of the strangest conversations I’ve had in a while today.

I stopped by a local window tint shop because I like working with automotive businesses. I walked in, introduced myself, handed the owner my business card...
..and before I could even explain what I do, he looked at the card and said,

“We don’t need that. We’re not a restaurant.”

I laughed because I thought he was joking.

He wasn’t.

So I told him, “Oh, I don’t build websites just for restaurants. I work with all kinds of service businesses.”

His response?

“Yeah, but we’re not a restaurant. Nobody needs to look at my menu. I’m a real business. I don’t need a website.”

I just smiled, wished him a good day, and headed back out.

Here’s the thing...

A website isn’t a digital menu.

It’s not just something restaurants have.

It’s where people check your reviews, look at your work, see what services you offer, find your phone number, get directions, request a quote, and decide whether they trust you enough to call.

Even if every customer came from referrals, those referrals are still going to Google you.

They’re still going to look you up.

And if they don’t find anything, or what they find looks like it hasn’t been updated since 2012, that first impression matters.

Not every business needs the biggest, fanciest website on the internet.

But almost every business benefits from having a professional place online that builds trust before the phone ever rings.

What’s the strangest objection you’ve ever heard from a business owner?

I’d love to hear it.

Something caught my attention while I was procrastinating on Instagram...

I got an ad for a roofing company.

Now, that’s not unusual. Roofing companies are actually some of my favorite businesses to work with.

What WAS unusual?

The company is in Alaska.

I’m sitting here in Florida.

Last time I checked, that’s about 4,500 miles outside their service area.

So naturally, I clicked.

Their website isn’t terrible. It’s clean enough, the phone number is easy to find, and you can tell they’ve been in business for a long time.

But none of that matters if your ad budget is being shown to people who could never become customers.

Every impression...

Every click...

Every dollar...
..is money that could have been spent reaching homeowners who actually need a roof in Anchorage instead of some guy in Florida who just happens to build websites for contractors.

This is one of those marketing problems that’s easy to miss because your ads still look like they’re running. Everything appears to be working.

Until you realize you’re paying to advertise to the wrong audience.

So I reached out.

Not because I wanted to tear apart their website.

Not because I wanted to tell them everything they were doing wrong.

Just because I figured they’d probably want to know they’re spending money showing roofing ads to someone who’s never going to hire them.

Sometimes growing a business isn’t about spending more.

It’s about making sure the money you’re already spending is actually reaching the right people.

AI is changing the web design industry… and honestly, I think that’s a good thing.

Today, you can describe your business, answer a few questions, and AI can build a website in minutes. That’s incredible, especially for DIY business owners trying to get something online without spending thousands of dollars.

But here’s the catch…

Building a website has never been the hardest part.

What happens when you want to add a new service? Connect your CRM? Improve your Google rankings? Speed up your site? Fix a broken contact form? Track conversions? Update your branding? Or figure out why your website suddenly stopped working after an update?

That’s where experience still matters.

AI is an amazing tool. I use it almost every day. It helps me write, brainstorm, troubleshoot, and move faster than ever before.

But tools don’t replace strategy.

They don’t replace knowing why something works, or how all the moving pieces fit together to help a business actually grow.

If you’re a DIY business owner, absolutely give AI a shot. It’s one of the best tools we’ve ever had.

Just remember…

Getting a website online is only the beginning.

The real work starts after you hit “Publish.”

That’s where having someone in your corner can make all the difference.

Here’s something most agencies will never admit…

I’m a DIY business owner too.

Every day, I build websites, improve SEO, fix marketing problems, and help other businesses grow. That’s literally my job.

But when it comes to my own business?

My social media sits untouched. My content ideas pile up. My own website gets pushed to “I’ll do it tomorrow.”

Sound familiar?

I think it’s because when you spend all day doing something for clients, the last thing you want to do after work is… more of the exact same thing.

It’s not that I don’t know what to do.

It’s that I’m too busy doing it for everyone else.

I know a lot of contractors, landscapers, garage door companies, painters, restaurant owners, and other small business owners deal with the same thing. You’re incredible at what you do, but your own marketing always ends up at the bottom of the list because the actual work comes first.

The irony isn’t lost on me.

I’ve been telling myself for years that I need to post more, make more videos, and market Savage Web Solutions better. And if you scroll through my profile… you’ll see I haven’t exactly followed my own advice.

So here’s my question…

If you’re a business owner, how do you balance working in your business with working on your business?

I’d genuinely love to hear what’s worked for you.

You don’t have to be the fanciest business in town.

You don’t need a massive building, a polished corporate brand, or a website packed with animations that looks like it cost $100,000.

But you do need to give people something they actually want.

Think about your favorite dive bar.

The floors might be questionable. The sign might be faded. Half the furniture probably came from three different decades.

But the drinks are cold, the prices are right, the bartender remembers your order, and the place has a personality people can’t get anywhere else.

It isn’t fancy.

It just gets the job done.

Your business can work the same way.

You don’t need the flashiest website or the biggest marketing budget. You need a clear message, a valuable service, proof that you know what you’re doing, and an easy way for customers to contact you.

The problem is that some businesses take the dive-bar comparison a little too literally.

Their website is confusing, outdated, difficult to use, and looks like nobody has touched it since MySpace was popular.

That isn’t “authentic.”

That’s just costing you customers.

Your website doesn’t have to win design awards. It needs to quickly tell people what you do, why they should choose you, and what they need to do next.

Fancy is optional.

Useful is not.
