Most professionals are networking — but almost none of them are turning it into revenue.
That’s not a motivation problem. It’s a system problem.
After years in sales — building relationships from scratch, managing territory, and turning cold contacts into closed deals — I identified five things that separate people who network and people who actually capitalize on their network.
I call it SPARK.
S — Seek
Stop showing up everywhere. Get intentional about which rooms you’re in and who’s in them. Quality of environment matters more than quantity of events.
P — Position
Be crystal clear on who you help and how you add value before any conversation. If you can’t say it in one sentence, the other person can’t remember it either.
A — Activate
Great networkers don’t pitch. They ask one smart question and listen. The conversation does the work for you.
R — Reconnect
Follow up within 48 hours with something specific from your conversation. Most people never do this. It’s the single biggest missed opportunity in professional networking.
K — Keep
Relationships go cold when you only reach out when you need something. Stay warm consistently. Add value before you need to ask.
Your network is already an asset. Most people just haven’t activated it.
SPARK is the system I use — and teach — to help sales professionals, entrepreneurs, and career builders turn their contacts into capital.
Save this and share it with someone who needs a better networking system.
