So, I hosted my first TikTok Live today to share my writing... and let’s just say it didn’t go exactly as planned. 😅
I chose a piece that touches on something heavy but important: the reality of bullying toward the neurodivergent and mental health communities. Because the story included a bully using a slur (the R-word), the stream was immediately flagged and restricted. I ended up having to skip an entire chapter just to stay live. 🚫📖
It’s confusing because I see “raunchy” content go viral daily, yet a story highlighting social issues gets hit with the ban hammer.
I need your help! Does anyone actually understand the censorship nuances between platforms? How do we share raw, impactful stories without getting silenced by the algorithm? 🗣️💬

Soooo… if you haven’t caught ‘s podcast- you really should f with it. I caught one of the last episodes with my bway and I learned a TON about the book distribution process that I didn’t know before. So I can only imagine what kind of learnery we are in for tomorrow with . Forgive how ‘ignant my VO is in this, but frfr, my actual reaction was not far off when I saw this post. Listen, we’ve all been there—recording a 10-minute masterpiece only to realize it looks like it was filmed in a sauna. Before you hit record today, remember the "Holy Trinity" of not looking like an amateur:
1️⃣ The Lens Wipe: Your phone is greasy. It’s okay, mine is too. But please, give that lens a little scrub-a-dub before you start. Clear footage is a choice, people!
2️⃣ The Social Distance: When using the selfie camera, you need to stand about 3 miles back to actually fit your body in the frame. If we only see your chin, you’re doing it wrong.
3️⃣ The Budget Stand: That cheap plastic tripod that looks like a spider? It’s perfect. Use it. Your stack of books is tired of holding your phone up. 📚

I’m sorry- this has nothing to do with anything but I REALLY WANTED TO try IG edits. It’s pretty fun if you’re just doing silly stuff. Has anyone used this for scheduled content or market friendly imperatives? Does it work!?
