I’ve seen SO MANY designer brands running paid ads on Instagram for Christmas. 🎁

So, what am I doing about it?

Genuinely interacting with all I have an interest in…

Ralph Lauren, Loro Piana, Chanel, Hermes, and even businesses including ski resorts and Shopify, which I’ve used since 2018.

So I’m re-targeted to keep up-to-date on their offerings personally (Christmas shopping) and learn their paid advertising strategies professionally.

You can adapt this same learning strategy with emails.

Sign up to email lists you have an interest in and learn about their offerings, how they present it, copywriting, email automation sequences, creativity and overall marketing in general.

Luxury store branding done right?

Louis Vuitton renovated their flagship store in New York in the style of their monogram luggage trunks.

Fair to say, it looks great.

Marketing wise, here’s why it SHOULD work:
- Free marketing as people take pictures for social media
- Word of mouth
- Monogram is instantly recognisable
- Excuse for people to visit, higher chance of conversions, brand loyalty, lifetime value

Ways a small business can benefit from this strategy:
- Dozens of artificial flowers outside or inside of the business, typically done well by restaurants and bars
- Classic car fixed to a specific place, done by a rare few restaurants
- Anything that prompts people to take a picture of/with for social media

Automotive re-brand failure or marketing success? 📈

Jaguar’s re-brand has caused a stir online

It’s reached far beyond automotive enthusiasts like myself, and reached the masses

On Jaguar’s re-brand video, Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and X (Twitter) even commented ‘Do you sell cars?’

Personally, from a branding perspective it’s a failure with the font and logo,

Although, they’ve kept the iconic pouncing jaguar, which is key as people can identify the brand just from seeing it. Problem is that it’s not pouncing to the left as always, but to the right. Maybe to differentiate themselves from Puma and Slazenger if they release apparel? Similar to how Ferrari is doing.

Personally, although it’s being heavily criticised, it’s a marketing success as it’s causing people to comment and debate.

What can you learn from this?

- Not all bad marketing is bad
- Aim for engagement before releasing a new product/service to generate curiosity (they’re yet to unveil their new line of cars)
- Capture the engagement through website forms, email lists etc. to inform the customer and create conversions

I reached 1,000,000 views on YouTube.

YouTube taught me plenty.

Photo editing.

Video editing.

Talking to a camera.

Communication.

Confidence.

The list goes on...

Started this new channel in 2014 and then slowed down around 2017.

Focused on other businesses, but my YouTube was my first business.

I was at around 550,000 views in 2017/18.

With short form content (called Shorts on YouTube) being implemented recently I’ve grown it to this significant number.
