One of the fav brunches I’ve had in NYC. I’ve been meaning to try this spot but it really lives up to the hype and I’m pumped to come back for dinner. The polo bun 🄐 from across the st is also phenomenal :)
šŸ† Eggplant was the most amazing dish. šŸ„’ we’re also very tasty. Must order both.
🄟 Potsticker and jian bing both good.
šŸØ was very delicious but I was def craving for more cruller vs ice cream.
šŸš I’d skip the Lu Rou Fan (pretty pricey) and get a couple of additional apps. šŸœ was a little undersalted. Tartare is good but prob try something else next time.
But overall what a phenom place and I’m pumped for this to be one of many meals.

I really wanted to come to this spot (my bf had had an amazing experience a few years back and was raving about it) but whole experience was lackluster. We sat at the bar and the experience was a bit awkward and service was a kinda pretentious? Food was overall fine but it was expensive and for that price, I’d rather go to EN (similar ambience)
🐠 the most spectacular dish was the steelhead trout. Pretty, balanced and tasty. Not quite enough for you to come just for this dish. But close. Tuna with the wood ear tasted a bit like a Chinese medicine….skip. Squid was ok
🄬 Brussels were too big to eat and needed some crunch to balance (the nori flavoring was delightful though)
🐟 Skate was over cooked and the sauce too heavy. Clams were good.
🐷Tonkatsu was good but paired with the udon verde was just too gluggy
Overall- really interesting flavors but were just too experimental or missed the mark in ex*****on

šŸ‡šŸ‡°Rating: Better than OK brunch and I’m excited to try out dinner service. It’s kinda a quirky take on a . The decor is right up my alley - amazing Hong Kong 90s nostalgia and memorabilia. Yea, I am bias and I’m proud of it. I loved how they even had local HK beers available. Great touch. Now, to what I actually ate.
šŸ”Chicken sandwich was fabulous and why this place deserves this rating. Think could do a little more sauce but the chicken was tender, crispy and I was sad I had to share it. šŸŸ were not OK (table next to us barely touched there’s) - really need to invest a bit more here.
šŸžFrench toast was classic HK style. Not the fancy croissant bla bla craze. Was not too sweet which I liked. 🄤Yin Yeung was slightly watery. Prob need to up the condensed milk a tad.
FYI the next table ordered the beef chow fun and demolished it.

Rating: Not OK. This is the 3rd time I’ve come to Jack’s Wife Freda and I still don’t get the appeal. I particularly hated the acoustics of the WV location. There’s always a line on the weekend so I keep thinking it’s my tastebuds and just personal experience. But nope- I will stop doubting myself. The is super watery and more like a pesto soup with the eggs. Challah tastes…unmemorable. I will say the Cous Cous was perfectly cooked, but alas accompanied with a pretty dry chicken skewer. The service is actually decent but the portions are tiny. We were ready to get Xian immediately after…

🪓Rating: Better than OK (NotOK for service). I really liked all the foods and the atmosphere was pretty great but the server last night was also pretty rude. So. Much. Attitude. But meh, stuff happens. Didn’t know what to think of , and it’s more fusion (won’t scratch that itch) but it is tasty and flavor packed. We ordered 5 dishes, amongst 3 ppl. They said it was too little but we couldn’t finish the food.šŸ˜Had 4 mocktails and ended the night sun $60pp.
🄟 gyozas were my fav. Loved the mushroom earthy filling
šŸ£ Both sushis were great. Spicy tuna and rainbow were both ahi watermelon so tasted the same šŸ˜ but texture was good. PS they really skimped on the wasabi. Why?!
🄦 Bang Bang was tasty. Good crisp. Sweet tangy sauce. Great app.
šŸœDan Dan sauce was bomb but the noodle itself are like little shards (not slurpable) and a little gluggy, so my least fav
Great place to hang with your friends (space is nice, good sound levels) but they will try to kick you out (even when there were plenty of empty tables and 9pm on a Tues night)….

šŸ³Rating: Better than OK. Yes I’ve been eating at good places recently. Shoot me. I’ve been meaning to try this spot for the longest of time. Mainly enticed but their color palette and decor. This trendy new-ish deli spot leaves your tummy happy as one can be.
🄦 Chopped Cheese is one of their deluxe sandwiches. It prob needed a bit more salt or the hot Mayo to pull its weight a little more but it is satisfying.
🄯But what you’re actually coming for is the breakfast sets. Duh. The salmon x eggs are wonderfully cooked. I hate it when it’s over and rubbery. But this one was silky and paired perfectly with the pickled onions. We made it deluxe - but I must get a baked good next time instead.
Go for a good time - it’s incredibly airy and bright. World of a difference to the cramped bagel spots in Manhattan that have a 3 hour wait. You know who they are ;)

šŸ³Rating: Better than OK. This place is so new that the NYC location tag wasn’t even available yet! I got there at a 915 on a Saturday and it was fully packed. Who are these food savvy early birds? As soon as you walk in - it’s 100% vibes. Looks kinda like color palette with some normcore outfits.
But boy, the food is fantastic. Love a place where they only offer flat whites (no Capps!) and the food is simple and done very well.
šŸ„ž9Grain was an accidental order (thought I was getting the blueberry) but it was phenom. Great texture - chewy, crunchy, soft and grainy(who woulda thought?) best dish!
šŸ„“ was also pretty damn good but not sure if it’ll beat the Peter Luger one.
🄣 Sprouted barley bowl was yummy too, perfectly poached egg and kimchi was a nice touch
Good luck getting a table as it blows up after the soft opening!

šŸœ Winter warrants a whole lotta soupy .
- better thankok spot and we got the spicy tan tan and the . Ramen was better. Peppers were good but the standout was the chicken wings and the shaved ice dessert. Great to wash off the msg ;)
is still the solid spot that I remembered. Just wish they had shorter wait times. Udon texture is unrivaled, ebiten and kakiage were great. Agedashi tofu and salada also tasty. Skip the oyster fry.
- come here for a safe meal. but nice to have options of both sushi and noodles. Bowl was the size of my head- so do beware! Skip the fried chicken
- with a name like this I kinda expected more. Pretty overpriced and the Niku I got was neither here nor there. Beef was over cooked and noodles were too soft, bordering soggy. and really my fault to try eat udon in

šŸ‡¹šŸ‡ Northeastern spot that’s now also in Brooklyn (much easier to get a table too!) vs the OG spot. Crazy eclectic decor, servers with hats and beach shirts - fun place to be (but obviously not a place to loiter- so g**o if you’re not eating :p)
🐠Whole fish is the must order for me. Super spicy, punchy and requires a solid dose of
šŸšCrab fried rice pretty tasty but think foods will taste better with plain rice
šŸ§†Meatballs are funky, larb also addictive but would recommend ordering the crying tiger over them both
Def will go more adventurous next time and get all the innards!

🄶Mixed bag of reviews this roundup with me revisiting some old favorites that were total busts
🄬Her Name is Han was a popular spot a few years back but it’s still pretty damn good. We got the seasonal octopus pasta for brunch and it was so elegantly presented! Food was fresh, soup was fragrant and I ordered an extra side of the tofu. Black sesame sauce was thick and yummy. Still a great spot
🦐Part of the ridiculously packed Urban Hawker complex, I skipped the chicken line and went and got the wokfried prawn noodles. Came out with a lot of sauce/soup and I was kinda like šŸ˜•but then it was sooo addictive. I liked how there was a bit of burnt chewy bits. Worked great with the soup. Great textures and flavor!!
🄩I’ve only been to the London branch but this was pure disappointment. We got the cheap cut (what it’s famous for) but so maybe that’s why - but it was flavorless. Mushrooms were so salty that it was bitter. Bone marrow was also bland. Chips were OK- but have šŸ’Æ had better. Sticky toffee pudding was also not the right texture (too soft) and way too sweet. We did see Tom Holland though but otherwise wouldn’t go back.
šŸšThe first Korean spot I went to as a tourist (there was only 1!) but the food has lost its finesse. Popcorn chicken was dry, bulgogi rice cakes was too sweet and uni rice was pretty but not memorable otherwise. Shame but not that good anymore!

Rating: Better than OK. Sister to the fav and it’s got a pretty solid menu. Yep, gonna ignore the very well covered whole fried b**m chicken that’s only available at night šŸ™ƒ
šŸ„ž Dan bing was solid and not oily for what it was (ie grease bombs of Taipei streets)
šŸœCold sesame were delightful. Might be my fav dish of the day. Sometimes the simplest is the hardest. Egg ribbons were cooked to perfection. Noodles were QQ šŸ‘ŒšŸ»
🄬 Celtuce salad looks a bit funky but it’s exceptionally addictive. Would order again
šŸ” Chicken that uses the same fry as the b**m. So there is a way to eat it without having dinner at 5pm 😜
The decor is amazing- super airy yet nostalgic. Only issue I had was that they didn’t serve coffee (despite serving a coffee cocktail). Would’ve loved some caffeine but hey- their restaurant, their rules! Also, this spot is much more spacious than 886 but you do have to go to :p
